I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Francis[/name] and [name]Frank[/name]!! I was considering it for my son, but [name]Frank[/name] is my husband’s name, and we didn’t want any confusion in the house. I personally am crazy about [name]Francis[/name], but you’re going to get a lot of slack for it. A lot of people don’t like it. They think it sounds girly. I think it’s amazing.
[name]Francis[/name] is wonderful. Definitely underused and classic. It’s my grandfather’s name and he goes by [name]Frank[/name] 100% of the time, so I love it. Use [name]Francis[/name], nn [name]Frank[/name]
I think both are cool! I never met anyone under 50 named [name]Frank[/name] or [name]Francis[/name] (not feminine by the way!). I love [name]Frank[/name] on it’s own, and I think it’s a bit more awesome than [name]Francis[/name].
I would use [name]Frank[/name] on the birth certificate. [name]Frankie[/name] is the name of a boy in my daughter’s kindergarten class, and I was just thinking about how much I like this name today.
Honestly, children these days are named all sorts of things. Besides, [name]Frank[/name] [name]Ocean[/name] is fantastically cool, he rocks his names. And there’s the classic Sinatra as well…
I love [name]Francis[/name] nn [name]Frank[/name]. It’s a family name for me. [name]Francis[/name] [name]Michael[/name] is my uncle who goes by [name]Frank[/name]. It’s an underused saints name that is classic and timeless. I would pick [name]Francis[/name] so your son would have the option of reverting back to the longer name if he chooses to when he’s older. It just gives him one more option.
I just can’t picture [name]Frank[/name] being used at all these days! [name]Francis[/name] is very unexpected and actually rather handsome and like you I just adore [name]Frankie[/name] on a little boy (or girl for that matter but as a nickname for [name]Francesca[/name]).
Have you considered [name]Franklin[/name], which seems a little more modern?
I’d vote for [name]Francis[/name] nn [name]Frankie[/name]. [name]Francis[/name] isn’t really my personal style, but I’d love to meet more little boys named [name]Francis[/name]. It has such a rich history. I’ve met one little [name]Francis[/name]; he was 15 months or so; and I thought what a handsome and unexpected choice it was for a baby boy. (I remembered later that his family is Catholic, which probably made it a less unusual-sounding choice for them.)
I can’t comment on the likelihood of teasing, though. I have no idea whether a [name]Francis[/name] would be teased.
[name]Frank[/name] is still a little too fusty for me–sorry–but that doesn’t make it a bad name, either. Best wishes!
I have two family members (one is 68, one is in 30s) with [name]Francis[/name] as their given name…they both dislike it so much that they go by their middle name. With that being said, I do think it’s a precious name (as in sweet/precious) but definitely not strong sounding. I love [name]Frank[/name] though and I second the vote for [name]Franklin[/name] nn [name]Frank[/name]!
I think [name]Francis[/name] is fine. I’ve met one at the playground. He is about 2
You could also go with [name]Francisco[/name] or [name]Francesco[/name]. In the musical “[name]Seven[/name] Brides for [name]Seven[/name] Brothers,” the brother named [name]Frank[/name] is actually named Frankincense. I’d skip that one.
