Francisca?

Is [name_f]Francisca[/name_f] an actual name? It is not recognized by Nameberry, and I have only ever heard of one person with this name. I really like it, but is it usable?

It’s an actual name! I know it as a Spanish name.

I love [name_f]Francisca[/name_f], I think it sounds very elegant and stately. I think some people might mistake it for the more familiar [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], and it does have a very religious (Catholic) connotation in my head if that were something you wanted to avoid, but otherwise I don’t see why it wouldn’t be usable.

Meaning, origin and history of the name Francisca - Behind the Name has more information about the name.

It’s an “actual name” and I think it’s very pretty and strong! And it is in the Nameberry database. It’s the feminine form of [name_m]Francisco[/name_m] and it has a long history of use in many Spanish, Portuguese, and [name_u]French[/name_u] speaking places. I think it’s usable! The similar [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] is very common, and I also know a [name_f]Franziska[/name_f] who gets compliments on her name. Plus there are lots of nicknames to fall back on if she ever doesn’t want to use her full name.

I think its really pretty!

I like it! Good nicknames too: [name_f]Sissy[/name_f], Cessy, Ceci, Cisca on top of all the Franny/Francy options. (And there is a nameberry page on it :))

absolutely beautiful!!

I’ve known a [name_f]Francisca[/name_f]! I believe it’s Spanish  (and it is now recognised by NB)

It is a classic Spanish name. I find it elegant with flair.
