We are wanting to name our daughter [name]Frankie[/name] middle name [name]Rose[/name]. [name]Frankie[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. Everyone hates [name]Frankie[/name] except my husband and I and my dad ([name]Frank[/name]) Is it really that bad? We want something that’s not common however nothing strange or made up. Thoughts?
[name]How[/name] about something like [name]Francesca[/name], nn [name]Frankie[/name]?
Giving traditional boy nicknames to girls is all the rage now ([name]Charlie[/name], [name]Stevie[/name], [name]Georgie[/name], [name]Billie[/name], [name]Frankie[/name] etc…). Sorry but I’m not a fan of this trend so I don’t really see the appeal of this name. There is always [name]Frances[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], Francina/Francine, Françoise or [name]Franca[/name] as alternatives.
I think [name]Frankie[/name] on a little girl is cute but I do agree with the ppl above that it shouldn’t be her full name. This way as she gets older and perhaps a little more sophisticated she will be thankful that she has something like [name]Francesca[/name] (which is quite beautiful anyhow [name]IMO[/name]) to fall back on.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Frankie[/name] as a nn for [name]Frances[/name] or, to a lesser extent, [name]Francesca[/name]. If you love it and it has meaning for you, do it!
There is also the European [name]Franka[/name] (like, Frahnkha for that first vowel, not Fraynka, rhymes with Tonka), which is nice. I think [name]Frankie[/name] on its own is too masculine and also limits her options. [name]Frances[/name]/[name]Francesca[/name]/[name]Franka[/name] can be [name]Frankie[/name], [name]Francie[/name], [name]Fancy[/name], [name]Fan[/name], just a few more options really!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Francesca[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Frances[/name] [name]Rose[/name]? You could still use [name]Frankie[/name] as a nickname. It is a great way to honor your Dad.
I adore the name [name]Frankie[/name]! But agree, it should be a nn ([name]Frances[/name] would be my pick) so she can have a choice in names down the road just in case. [name]Love[/name] how it honors Grandpa. She’ll be the apple of his eye!
I agree with the other posters [name]Frances[/name] (my pick) or [name]Francesca[/name] would be better as a first name.
The nickname [name]Frankie[/name] is cute for a baby/child/teen but might not be suitable in the future in a professional setting when she is say a doctor/lawyer/politician.
I do like that you are honouring your Dad
I love that you’re naming her after your dad, but agree that [name]Frankie[/name] is better as a nickname. [name]Frances[/name] [name]Rose[/name] could easily be [name]Frankie[/name] [name]Rose[/name].
I really don’t like [name]Frankie[/name] as a full name. [name]Imagine[/name] if your daughter grows up to be a glamour girl or a bookworm. She would appreciate having a full name so at least she has some options.
