Freddy/Freddie? 🌲

I first caught attention of this name after Louis Tomlinson named his son Freddie Reign. I’ve only just starting liking it and would like to know what your thoughts/opinions on this name?

It sounds dated to me. It could work for a child though. I like the [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] speling best

I love it as a short form of [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] and 100% would have used it myself if it weren’t that one of my closest friends had a boy first and used it  [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is such a friendly name I think. It feels quite popular to me in the U.K. - just checked and it’s literally #12 here but doesn’t rank in the US at all :exploding_head:

[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is pretty charming and friendly sounding - fairly popular here in the UK - I’ve encountered a number of little Freddies running about and it seems to suit them well

I love it! I’d go with the [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] spelling.

[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is sweet rather popular choice in the UK I know a lot of Freddie’s. I prefer the ‘ie’ spelling feels more streamlined. I like the idea of a vintage nickname name being paired with a bolder middle name like [name_u]Reign[/name_u]. Maybe [name_u]Lark[/name_u] or Dovecote could be cool middle names for [name_u]Freddie[/name_u].

I love it. It has such warm and happy vibes, but I’m not sure if I prefer it as a nickname or not, I keep flip flopping.

I like it as a nickname for [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], spelt [name_u]Freddie[/name_u].

i like [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] as a nickname and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] as a first name. i’m not a huge fan of the full names for freddy (Frederick or Alfred) but it could grow on me.

I love [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] for a boy though I love [name_f]Frederica[/name_f] for a girl the most.

I adore [name_u]Freddy[/name_u]. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I think it is one of the sweetest, most darling boy names, and it would sound fresh, yet nicely familiar on a little boy today.

Either spelling works, but I personally prefer [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] — probably because I love [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], so [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] just looks right to me.

I love [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] as a nn for either [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] or [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], although [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] is also cute. I’m not that fond of [name_m]Fred[/name_m], though. (Lord [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]Windsor[/name_u] is Freddie.)

Freddy/Freddie is sweet!! I prefer the [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] spelling because it has the same warmth as [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] :yellow_heart: [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] feels more timeless to me, where as [name_m]Fredd[/name_m]ie feels forever young for some reason

I really like it! I agree it sounds friendly & it reminds me of [name_m]Scooby[/name_m] Doo (lol). Personally I like the spelling [name_u]Freddie[/name_u].

I love Freddy/Freddie! I’m heavily biased because it’s actually the name I gave my stuffed rabbit (Goodnight [name_f]Moon[/name_f] rabbit) when I was 2 or 3. I like both spellings, but slightly prefer [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]

i love freddie for all genders!

I love [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] (prefer it to Freddy) and also the formal but sweet [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]! It is interesting that these names are so much more popular in the UK, though I do know of one baby [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] (nn for Frederick) born in the last few years in the US…

Maybe the association with the [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] Krueger horror movies has held it back in the US?

if I had a boy right now, I’d name him [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] “Freddie”, so I love it!
