A young 16th Century couple (Scottish mother, [name_m]French[/name_m] father), living amongst the [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_m]Court[/name_m], have a baby boy. A baby boy that is currently without a name.
I looked a little at names amongst Scottish nobility at the time and liked [name_m]Gillespie[/name_m], [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_u]Blair[/name_u] etc but nothing really felt right so, what would you call him?
Any and all names are welcome and thanks in advance!!
Hm. I looked up some Scottish names and although I’m not quite sure what I think, here’s some names I found. I’ve asterisked my favorites.
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] (this is a really old name, I know)
*[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Gordon[/name_m]
*[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
*[name_m]Callum[/name_m] (or [name_m]Calum[/name_m])
[name_m]Duncan[/name_m]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] (a bit predictable, maybe?)
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps! Good luck!
As much as I love [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Amis[/name_m] and [name_m]Ranulph[/name_m], I still don’t feel like they’re quite right.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Calvin[/name_m]? Calvinism was big among the Scots during this time period. It’s the reformers surname, but I can easily imagine it being given to a boy at this time in history.
Hmm, no, it’s still not quite right. I want it to have a little of a [name_m]French[/name_m] influence to it, like [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]/[name_m]Laurent[/name_m]. I think I might go with that. Thanks for your help, guys!
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is good, but you might need some more names
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Andreas[/name_m]
[name_m]Colin[/name_m]
[name_m]Gavan[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicolas[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip/name_m
[name_m]Tomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Steafan[/name_m]/[name_f]Stephane[/name_f]
[name_m]Hew[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_m]Audric[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
