We have a little girl on the way and are struggling to find the right name to go with our daughter’s name, [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. We love her name because it’s feminine, still somewhat uncommon in our area (CA) but not strange. Plus, we tend to fall for [name_m]French[/name_m] sounding names. Here are our current contenders:
[name_f]Ines[/name_f] (probably our top right now)
[name_f]Elin[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] (maybe as a middle?)
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] (other top but not sure if we can use it since a friend of mine did…)
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
Suggestions please! And middle name pairings are welcome as well!
I like [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]! They’re both so sweet! I don’t care for [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] as much, because of the similar endings. But [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Ines[/name_f] would be lovely! Some other names I think sound as lilting and romantic as [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] are:
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
Niccola
I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]! [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], and [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] from above are also nice. I like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] best from your list but sounds like maybe it is out. I love [name_f]Ines[/name_f] but it sounds very Spanish to me.
I like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] best from your list, and [name_f]Ines[/name_f] is ok. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Elin[/name_f] with sister [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and I dislike [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] which is fussy and dated where I live. [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] I agree best in the middle.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] suggestions of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].
Suggestions, not necessarily [name_m]French[/name_m] but nice with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]:
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]! I wouldn’t use [name_f]Colette[/name_f] if u know someone else who has used it, makes it less special. I live in CA know [name_m]ZERO[/name_m] [name_f]Ines[/name_f]’ but loads of colettes.
If you love [name_f]Colette[/name_f] but don’t want to repeat a name a friend has already used, how about [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]. Another [name_m]French[/name_m] name and I think the meaning is adorable (little thing).
When I had [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] on my list, I had [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] in mind for a sister. I think they are absolutely lovely together. I’m not sure why people always push her to the middle name spot - wonderful associations! I don’t love [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], it’s a lovely name just a little to match-y, [name_f]IMO[/name_f], with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is pretty & would go great with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]! [name_f]Ines[/name_f] (Inès) is #11 in [name_f]France[/name_f] atm, so that’s a pretty stylish option! [name_f]Elin[/name_f] seems pretty random to me, not [name_m]French[/name_m] and starts with [name_f]El[/name_f]- just like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f], & [name_f]Ines[/name_f] are my favorites with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] & [name_f]Ines[/name_f] being my top two - they just seem a bit more refined & chic to me.
I always thought [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] (said ari-elle, not like ariel / air-e-elle) and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] were beautiful names.
I like [name_f]Ines[/name_f] and [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] from your list. I really like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], but I think it might be too similar ending-wise to [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].
If you don’t mind the -ie ending
[name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nathalie[/name_f]/[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelie[/name_f]
