Not expecting, but TTC #4! We already have [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u], and [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] [name_m]Karl[/name_m] (and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] our angel baby). We like [name_m]German[/name_m] names (we live in the US but our last name is very [name_m]German[/name_m], and my husband’s name is [name_m]Klaus[/name_m] so that style just works best for us).
I’ve been in love with [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] for a girl in our sibset for a while but I’ve recently been crushing on [name_f]Frida[/name_f]. But how would you spell it? [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Freida[/name_f], or [name_f]Frieda[/name_f]? I kind of like the E in it, but also appreciate the simplicity of the spelling without. Does it “go” with my kids? Always open to other suggestions, too, if anyone wants to throw some out. And I’ll also take all the prayers and positive vibes that we conceive soon! Thanks, berries!!
I love Frida/Freida/Frieda! I like all the spellings but feel that [name_f]Frida[/name_f] is the most streamlined/works the best, generally speaking. And I think it goes great with your current sibset! It definitely feels distinctly “Germanic” without being difficult to understand for [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers. I like [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] for you guys as well though!
[name_f]Frieda[/name_f]! Not so related to [name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_u]Kahlo[/name_u] and seems more fitting in the sibset. The e in [name_f]Frieda[/name_f] makes it feel warmer for some reason too.
[name_f]Frieda[/name_f], Friede, [name_f]Frida[/name_f] are all pronounced with the long e sound. In [name_m]German[/name_m], [name_f]Freida[/name_f] would by Fry-da.
I prefer [name_f]Frieda[/name_f], although you could go to the full name of Frederica/Frederike, nn [name_f]Frieda[/name_f].

Frieda or Frida! Freida is not a German spelling, so if that’s what you’re going for, I’d avoid it.
Between Frieda and Frida, I think in the US Frida might work better because you wouldn’t get the ie/ei confusion but both are lovely!
In Germany both are used though Frieda is twice as popular (but the name is so popular that you’ll find enough of both as to not have a “default” spelling)
I really like the [name_f]Frida[/name_f] spelling best, but perhaps one of the others is more fitting for your sibling group? I think because of [name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_u]Kahlo[/name_u] it’s going to be the most known spelling
my mother is actually called elfreda, with no i at all, so if you like the e in freida / frieda but dislike the clutter i + e combo you could always try freda! if not, i prefer frida, and then frieda over freida, which i would pronounce “fray-da”.
