Hiā¦long time lurker on NB but this is my first post!
So Iāve got a category in my list of midcentury type girls namesā¦Iām aware these are kinda clunky and not to a lot of peoples taste but Iām really drawn to them! Iām getting a kinda āserious but approachableā vibe from themā¦like a friendly librarian with a cute cardigan
They definitely have a sort of dated yet cosy feel
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f] and [name_u]Beverly[/name_u] sprung to mind
Aww I love this listā¦especially [name_f]Sally[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]ā¦and [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]š
All of them apart from [name_f]Jill[/name_f]. I find [name_f]Jill[/name_f] quite stern and it actually means bitter? [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] is nice alternative though.
Iāll suggest
I love many of these names! [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] are great. I donāt associate [name_f]Jill[/name_f] as a cosy librarian type, I knew many of them born in the 80s and 90s, all of whom areā¦not cosy or librarians. LoL It doesnāt seem to fit with the rest of the names.
Hereās some others that come to mind (sorry for any repeats):
@Scottie491 ha come to think of it the only [name_f]Jill[/name_f] I know is in her 30āsā¦seem to think of it as a sweet old fashioned name for some reason, maybe itās the [name_m]Jack[/name_m] & [name_f]Jill[/name_f] nursery rhyme! Ida, [name_u]Patsy[/name_u] & [name_f]Betty[/name_f] are so sweetā:heart_eyes: @VivienaLunelle123 [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Mamie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Cindy[/name_f] & [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], thank you @anon25197097 [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] is pretty, Iād forgotten about [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] as well, one of my favourites!
Ramona I love! The others arenāt super my style, but they also remind me of [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Susan[/name_f], etc., which I think are nice. (Iām admittedly a huge [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and [name_f]Irene[/name_f] fan, although they may be a little older than your target age?)
The names that come to mind:
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriette[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
[name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Patricia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sharon[/name_f]
Love [name_f]Irene[/name_f]! Iām claiming her as a family name, but Iāve been a huge fan for a couple years now. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] is on my list. I could totally see [name_f]Irene[/name_f] as a sister (or middle name?) for [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Jill[/name_f], or [name_f]Thelma[/name_f]!
