Full name for Desi/Dezi

I really like the nickname [name_u]Desi[/name_u]/[name_m]Dezi[/name_m], but I don’t like [name_f]Desiree[/name_f] or [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f].

Any suggestions on names that you could get the nickname from?

I don’t personally like this name, but I have a friend named [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] that goes by [name_u]Desi[/name_u]. I’ll try to think of more appealing options later.

I have a friend called Desnie, maybe [name_u]Desi[/name_u] would work with that?

Also, a quick search came up with [name_f]Ardesia[/name_f], which in my opinion is very pretty

Adesina – the coming of the baby has opened the way (It’s African)
Desanka
Desideria – longing
Desislava – finding glory
Desma – of the binding oath
Despoina – lady, mistress
[name_f]Dessa[/name_f] – flat, and herb, longing
Desta – happiness
[name_f]Destiny[/name_f]
Edesia – feast
Edessa – from Edessa
[name_f]Modesta[/name_f] – modesty
Dezba – going to war

Although it’s probably not what you’re into, I think that I am recalling correctly that my Jewish baby naming book said this was a nickname for [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f].

I have seen respellings of [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] that look really similar to [name_u]Desi[/name_u] … so maybe [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] for another giant stretch?

[name_f]Destiny[/name_f] isn’t my style. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you come back with more suggestions!

Desnie sounds too nickname-y to me. [name_f]Ardesia[/name_f] is interestings. I’m sure if it’s something I would use though.

I’m not sure how Desideria is pronounced, but I like the look of it. I like the modern spelling Despina a bit more than Despoina because Despoina reminds me of the the word disappointed.

Oh, I like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nicknamed [name_u]Desi[/name_u]. It’s a bit of a stretch, but it’s be a nickname and I think it’s workable.

Thank you everyone!

[name_m]Destin[/name_m]
Adisella
[name_m]Adonis[/name_m]
[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
Odesia

Desideria is pronounced des-ih-dehr-ee-ah.

My mom had a coworker named [name_m]Des[/name_m] (rhymes with chess). She used to get annoyed because people would assume [name_m]Des[/name_m] was a nn and call her [name_f]Desiree[/name_f]

[name_f]Ardis[/name_f]
[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
Loudes
Aleydis
[name_f]Candace[/name_f]

[name_f]Odessa[/name_f] would make a great option! I hadn’t even thought of that. I came across [name_f]Adessa[/name_f] while I was looking for fuller names for [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and I’m guessing that’s a variant/creative spelling for [name_f]Odessa[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] nn [name_u]Desi[/name_u] would be pretty cute, though. I know a D3$tyn3, nn [name_m]Des[/name_m]-[name_m]Des[/name_m]/[name_u]Desi[/name_u]/[name_m]Des[/name_m] (cutest four-year-old ever. just sayin’. :))–while I’m not a fan of the name, or the spelling (it is pronounced like [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]), it does obviously work.

My other thought was [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. I have heard [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] bantered about, so I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] could definitely work as a stretch, too, especially if you had an “S” middle, especially if it had the “See” sound in it (like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u], or even [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Constantina[/name_f]/[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Serena[/name_f], etc.). [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] seems to be more your style than a lot of these suggestions (with the exception of [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], perhaps?), so I figured I’d offer it up.

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Odessa[/name_f]. I think I might be sticking with [name_m]Desmond[/name_m]. I can’t find a name I love enough with [name_u]Desi[/name_u] as a nickname.

I do like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], but would use it with a sister named [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is absolutely going to happen and [name_f]Addie[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddie[/name_f] would be too much.
