Full name for "Kate"?

I really like the name [name]Kate[/name] and it’s toward the top of my list for our little girl due in a week. However, I’m not the biggest fan of [name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name]. If we used it I’d want the C spelling which my husband is convinced couldn’t go by [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Cate[/name].

The only other name I’ve found that I like is [name]Caitlin[/name] but I do hate that it’s so popular with a million spellings. I’m not against just naming her [name]Kate[/name] but I want to explore my options.

THANKS!

I acutally really like the name [name]Katherine[/name] (this is the spelling I prefer, but with a ‘C’ is good too). I also like the name [name]Kaitlin[/name], but I can’t use it because hubby has a close cousin named this. I don’t understand why you can’t spell [name]Catherine[/name] with a ‘C’ and get the nick name [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Cate[/name]. I would suggest you use that name and that spelling. But I also wouldn’t let the popularity of a name stop me from using a name that I loved (if you love [name]Kaitlin[/name]). Another name that you could possibly get [name]Kate[/name] out of is [name]Kathleen[/name]/[name]Cathleen[/name]. Sorry I’m not much help.

The [name]Breton[/name] variation of [name]Katherine[/name] is [name]Katell[/name] (or [name]Katelle[/name]). Pronounced kah-TELL. I love it, and think it’s a great alternative to [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Caitlin[/name]. Easy to spell, easy to say, not common, but not unusual or too ‘strange’ either. And it gets you to [name]Kate[/name], or [name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name]!

[name]Catalina[/name] is probably my favourite route to [name]Kate[/name]. Others I like are [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Katja[/name] and [name]Catriona[/name].

Good luck!

I think any of the [name]Katherine[/name] variants would work for [name]Kate[/name]:

[name]Kathleen[/name]
[name]Katarina[/name]
[name]Catalina[/name]
[name]Katya[/name]
[name]Katrina[/name]
[name]Karina[/name]

Personally, I prefer the nickname [name]Cate[/name] for names that start with “C” and [name]Kate[/name] for names that start with “K”, but that’s just me.

Two other options:

[name]Katerina[/name]
[name]Catrin[/name]

[name]Kathryn[/name]. That’s my mom’s and great great grandmother’s name.

I don’t see why you can’t just name her [name]Kate[/name]. You’ll probably be asked a lot at first what is her full name, but I think [name]Kate[/name] (much like [name]Eliza[/name]) works as both a nickname and real name!
