I’ve had my heart set on [name_f]Esme[/name_f], with nickname Ezzy, but now I’m considering different names. I wanted to pronounce [name_f]Esme[/name_f] Ez-me, not Es-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] because I preferred the first pronunciation and loved the nickname Ezzy to go along with it. But I didn’t want to give my daughter a name where people always mispronounce it, or cause a debate on how you pronounce it. So now I’m trying to think of names where I could use the nickname Ezzy. I adore the name [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but Ezzy doesn’t flow with it as well as it does with [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. Also I feel like a better nickname for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would be [name_f]Liza[/name_f]. Does anyone know any other names where I could use Ezzy as a nickname? And what are your opinions on [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and the pronunciation? Thanks!!
Here are some suggestions:
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]
[name_f]Esperanza[/name_f]
[name_f]Essence[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Estrid[/name_f]
Ezora
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]'s a great suggestion!
As for me, I think it depends on where you’re from. I’m American and the first time I saw the name, I pronounced it like you do! I don’t now, but it’s probably uncommon enough here (and probably a lot of places) that a lot of-- if not most-- people would ask.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] love love the suggestion of [name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f].
However, I see no issue with [name_f]Esme[/name_f]/Ezzy; I know an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] who goes by Lis and pronounces it [name_f]Liz[/name_f]. [name_f]Esme[/name_f]/Ezzy is way more straightforward than that.
My name is [name_f]Eryn[/name_f] and I got Ez/Ezza/Ezzy a lot growing up. I didn’t pick it myself and I don’t use it (it really made me cringe when I was in high school), but I was called it which speaks volumes. I wouldn’t worry too much about trying to find a name that fits to get to Ezzy, although I don’t see an issue with [name_f]Esme[/name_f].
