[name_m]Hi[/name_m], ladies! I’m a huge fan of [name_f]Nina[/name_f], but OH feels it’s too nicknamey. So far we’ve thought along the lines of [name_f]Antonina[/name_f], [name_f]Christina[/name_f], etc, but none of them feel right. Ideally we’d like a full name that’s of Spanish/Italian/etc origins, as OH is Italian, but it’s not super important. Our last name is [name_m]Cordero[/name_m], if that’s any help. Thank you for any suggestions! ![]()
I’m a [name_f]Nina[/name_f]! My full name is [name_f]Nicolina[/name_f], but I’ve always gone by [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. Other names I think could work: [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Karina[/name_f], anything that ends in ‘ina’ I think would work.
What about [name_f]Valentina[/name_f]? I may be biased since it’s my name, but I think it’s very pretty and it flows well with your last name, and it also has a great meaning, as it derives from the word “valens”, which means “healthy, strong” in Latin. It’s also a common name in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] and in many Spanish-speaking countries.
If you don’t like it, I think that pretty much anything that ends in -ina would work. My personal favorites are [name_f]Regina[/name_f], [name_f]Christina[/name_f], [name_f]Delfina[/name_f] (such a pretty name!), [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] and [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] (I prefer [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], though).
It’s barely any longer, but maybe the extra syllable will do the trick: [name_f]Anina[/name_f]
Agree with [name_f]Nina[/name_f] that anything ending in -ene, -ena, -ine, -ina or -ne (as in [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]) could shorten to [name_f]Nina[/name_f], of which there’s no shortage:
[name_f]Angelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Caterina[/name_f]
[name_f]Eponine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Francine[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogene[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] / [name_f]Josefina[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadine[/name_f]
[name_f]Philomena[/name_f] / [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] (the Italian spelling)
[name_f]Rosina[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Nicolina[/name_f] is really pretty! Also like [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], [name_f]Antonina[/name_f], and [name_f]Caterina[/name_f].
Other ideas: [name_f]Adelina[/name_f], [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_f]Carina[/name_f], [name_f]Chiarina[/name_f], [name_f]Giannina[/name_f], [name_f]Inesa[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Natalina[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Anina[/name_f]
[name_f]Bellina[/name_f]
[name_f]Carmelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestina[/name_f]
[name_f]Corrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Emalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]/[name_f]Evalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicina[/name_f]
[name_f]Fidelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Felina[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Gianina[/name_f] (very Italian)
[name_f]Josephina[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamina[/name_f]
[name_f]Jannina[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolina[/name_f]

I like just [name_f]Nina[/name_f]!
I remember reading a book in which one of the characters was [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], but she went by [name_f]Nina[/name_f]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] that!
But I love [name_f]Nina[/name_f] by itself, and it sounds great with your last name!
I had a friend called [name_f]Karena[/name_f] (pn like [name_f]Karina[/name_f]) who went by [name_f]Nina[/name_f].
I adore [name_f]Nina[/name_f] on its own but the hubs is insisting on a longer name. We have a [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] nicknamed [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] and a [name_f]Viviana[/name_f] we call [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] so I can see his point about giving her a ‘full’ name.
Anything ending in ‘nina’ or ‘ina’ etc!
Some ‘nina’ ending ones:
[name_f]Anina[/name_f]
[name_f]Gianina[/name_f]
[name_f]Janina[/name_f]/[name_f]Janine[/name_f]
[name_f]Penina[/name_f]
[name_f]Yanina[/name_f]
[name_m]Feel[/name_m] like if u added one more ‘n’ into it it would not feel that way. There is a girl in my college class named [name_f]Ninna[/name_f]
Here in [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is the traditional nickname for [name_f]Marina[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Alexandrina[/name_f] / [name_f]Nina[/name_f] ([name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]'s first name). I think most names ending in [name_f]Rina[/name_f] can have [name_f]Nina[/name_f] as a nickname.
All of the Ninas I have known have been just [name_f]Nina[/name_f], or [name_f]Janine[/name_f] which I think is lovely, especially with [name_f]Viviana[/name_f] and [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] is traditional nickname for Nikolina, here where I live.
