I’ve been really loving [name_f]Posy[/name_f] lately, but she feels like she needs a longer name. I’m okay with something a little unexpected, but I don’t really want it to be TOO out there. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f], and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] seem like the most obvious options, but I am not a [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] girl, and I’ve found [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] finicky to work with. I’m wondering if you have any other ideas, or even a combo that could give me [name_f]Posy[/name_f] as a smoosh nickname?
I think that any P name will work with [name_f]Posy[/name_f], especially with a S middle name! [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Sage[/name_f], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] Serene… I also thought of [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f] “Posy” and [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] “Posy”!
I have seen it being used for [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- names, as a rhyming nickname (Rosy → Posy), and I suppose it could technically work for any flower name—literal ones as well as [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], etc.
[name_f]Amapola[/name_f] (the Spanish word for “poppy”), [name_f]Proserpine[/name_f], and [name_f]Apolena[/name_f] or [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] come to mind as well, but I am not sure if any of them would be your style?
I went back to look at you wydt of these? post from last week. [name_f]Posy[/name_f] could definitely work for [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] from your list, instead of [name_f]Romy[/name_f]. Do you prefer [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Romy[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Posy[/name_f]?
I agree with @Demoiselle about the flower names especially the [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- names.
… I can’t really put my finger on it, I just haven’t found a combo for Primrose that I genuinely love. I do like the idea of something like Primrose Adele or Primrose Eleanor, almost like an English garden, but somehow I can’t land on something that just feels right.
I was thinking similarly, maybe anything with “Po” in it? especially if there’s a middle with an S in it somewhere, like Pomeline Lucia?
I tried Sophia nn Posy a while back - want to love it but somehow it felt like too much of a stretch? I’m also not sure I love Sophia enough to use it in spite of its popularity.
@Johannaa & @Greyblue - If Calypso nn Posy works… could Calliope nn Posy work? I’ve been loving Calliope lately, but never thought to combine Calliope and Posy! I am thinking with an S sound in the middle somewhere, that maybe it could? Calypso is a little more obvious, but given how much I’ve been loving Calliope lately, and waffling between Calla and Poppy as nicknames… Posy does feel rather perfect. Especially since Poppy is not that usable for me anyway (my dad’s “grandpa name”).
Thanks for the idea, lady! I think I definitely prefer Rosamund nn Romy, though the idea of either one is lovely!
@miloowen - Amapola nn Posy is so beautiful! Amapola doesn’t really feel like “me” but I love her for someone else.
Oooh [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] “Posy” could work! I think [name_f]Posy[/name_f] is a bit like [name_m]Pip[/name_m], [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], [name_m]Scout[/name_m], and [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] – workable with lots of names – if at least some of the sounds are there.
Oh yay! I’m glad you both think it works! I had tossed around [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] for a while; I think that would work, but I’m curious what else is out there. LOVE [name_f]Maris[/name_f] but I’m not willing to give her up as a first. I did a cursory search for names with an “S” I might like with [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] - I’m really intrigued by the potential of [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Brisa[/name_f], and [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] Hyssop? I don’t think they’re all “me” but the first three in particular I think could give me [name_f]Posy[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] & [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] are honoring. I feel like most won’t find it attractive at all but for some reason [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] Hyssop won’t let me go lol.
@PiperRose [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] is a lovely name! I always liked the idea of [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Eden[/name_f] nn [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Posy[/name_f] could work just as easily! Sadly I am not in love with [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] enough to use her, but I would love to meet a little [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Posy[/name_f]!
