[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! My fiancé and I are having a girl in [name_u]December[/name_u]. We’d really like to honor my mother [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. She mainly goes by [name_f]Mona[/name_f] so we’re using [name_u]Rae[/name_u] to avoid causing confusion.
The only name we’ve considered is [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] but i’m unsure about it because I know a few [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]'s who ruined it for me.
As far as nicknames go, I’m really generous. With a nickname like [name_u]Rae[/name_u], I think you could justifiably nickname any girl with a name starting with an R. Also important to consider, names that begin with an R and have an -ae sound in them. (Or, if you aren’t too attached to the idea of [name_u]Rae[/name_u], I’m also really loose with honor names – I think something like [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] “[name_u]Romy[/name_u]” could honor a [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] beautifully as well). So a few ideas.
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] (if you don’t mind a possible association, as I sadly do – I love the sound)
[name_f]Renee[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_u]Raven[/name_u]
[name_f]Reina[/name_f]/[name_f]Raina[/name_f]
Frankly I think just [name_u]Rae[/name_u] is darling – if too short, maybe as half of a double name?
[name_f]Reva[/name_f] is pronounced “[name_u]Ray[/name_u]-va” and is just lovely! I like the suggestion of a double name with [name_u]Rae[/name_u]… [name_f]Emma[/name_f]-[name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]-[name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]-[name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_f]Jessa[/name_f]-[name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-[name_u]Rae[/name_u]. You could always use [name_u]Rae[/name_u] as a middle but call her by her first and middle name together.
I actually love [name_u]Rae[/name_u] on its own. My husband and I had it on our long list after I met an incredible little girl with this as her given name.
