For a while now, I have loved the idea of [name_f]Sisi[/name_f] or Cici as a nn. Any ideas for a full name?
I’ve tossed a few ideas about, but I grew up with too many Cecilias to feel comfortable using it up front, [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] I can never seem to commit to, as much as I love her, [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] I say like loo-CHEE-ah, so Cici doesn’t make much sense, and I don’t love [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], or [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] enough to use it up front… Does [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elisabet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f] make sense? What about [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f]? I feel like I’m grasping at straws here, just trying to make [name_f]Sisi[/name_f]/Cici work.
I think that both [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabet[/name_f]/[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f] work. I like lucy1990’s ideas of [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Cicely[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. I know a [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f], and I think that’s pretty cute.
Maybe:
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u] nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f]
[name_f]Cierra[/name_f] nn Cici
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f] nn Cici
[name_f]Celine[/name_f] nn Cici
[name_f]Selina[/name_f]/[name_f]Seline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f]
You could probably get away with using a first and middle name starting with C for the nickname Cici (e.g. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]), but that would probably work better with the nn [name_f]Cece[/name_f] (unless Cici and [name_f]Cece[/name_f] are being pronounced the same).
There’s a tennis player named [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Bellis whose nickname is Cici (see-see). She does have a C middle name but I think any name that starts with C could get you to Cici.
I also know a [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] that’s nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f].
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] from your list has the “s” sound so it isn’t a massive leap from [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] - Ceecee
@lucy1990 - I do recall! I’m actually working (halfheartedly, admittedly!) on reading a historical fiction novel of said [name_f]Empress[/name_f], which is why I sort of eluded to [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is my favorite girls’ name, so I’m much more likely to use it, but [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sisi[/name_f]… it almost seems like too many steps to make it work? I don’t know. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] are lovely, but I can’t see me using either one. If I used a member of the [name_m]Cecil[/name_m]- family, it’d be straight-up [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], I think.
@indilee - thanks for the ideas! Unfortunately, most of those aren’t really my thing. I thought about names ending in -sia or -cia, but my favorite was [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], and, again, I use -CHEE-ah, and is that enough of a tie? [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] was a maybe, but it’s just always felt too over-the-top for me, although [name_f]Sisi[/name_f] does make it more appealing. But if I used it, I would probably go straight to [name_f]Annie[/name_f] anyhow. Although I do love [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and Cici just about the same, anyhow…
@[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] - thanks for the idea! I suppose that’s a fair point. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] nn Cici? haha. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is the only FN on my list that starts with a “C” at this point. eh. And [name_f]Claire[/name_f] nn Cici seems like… I don’t know. It doesn’t seem worth it. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] takes less effort to say, lol.
@ani77 - YES! Could [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn Cici work?! I’m not a HUGELY massive fan of [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] anyhow; could [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn Cici work? I don’t know why [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn Cici makes more sense than [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Claire[/name_f] to me, but I sort of love the idea of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] with the nn Cici. Not sure most people would get it, but it’s sort of making me fall in love with [name_f]Grace[/name_f] all over again. [name_f]Do[/name_f] I need to be talked off the ledge?!
It does work and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as a first name is lovely. I don’t know how popular it is where you are but I only know 2 girls named [name_f]Grace[/name_f] both are 11 years old and 1 has a sister [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]!

Good luck!
Thank you! My grandma’s mn was [name_f]Grace[/name_f], so it’s meaningful as well as lovely. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] ranks at number 12 in my state, but the meaning outweighs its popularity for me. I, too, know two, but they’re both older teenagers, so I’m not terribly concerned. I’ve officially added Cici as my nn for [name_f]Grace[/name_f], although we’ll see with time if it feels too much of a stretch.
And thank you for the link! None of them came anywhere near as much as I like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn Cici right now, but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll probably re-examine [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], and maybe even [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], or straight-up [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]?
I grew up with a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Sisi[/name_f] and last year I taught a little one who was named [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and went by [name_f]Cece[/name_f]. I think any s/c name would work.
I know a Youtuber who calls her child Cici (or CC - not sure which), and her full name is actually [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] C___ Surname. So she uses the 2 C’s at the beginning of the first name and middle name I think it’s quite sweet.
@lissylou - thank you for your advice! Unfortunately, [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is the only “C” or “S” name on my list at this point as a FN–do you think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] nn Cici makes much sense? Especially since I don’t have a “C” middle for her? Something longer, like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], sort of makes sense to me, but [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is so short as it is, it seems pointless. (Not sure why [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn Cici makes more sense to me than [name_f]Claire[/name_f] nn Cici?)
@jessicalucy - thanks! That is quite sweet. I’m generally a fan of alliteration, if it works, but the only “C” name on my list right now is [name_f]Claire[/name_f], and, for the most part, I’m not too keen on CC alliteration with it, for some reason? I’ve not found a combo I really like. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], etc… I do sort of like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Clemency[/name_f], but if I went that route, there’d probably be a middle in between, and that’s no longer my favorite [name_f]Claire[/name_f] option at this point, so I have a feeling it won’t stick?
