Hi everyone!
Aside from the typical Elizabeth, what would you use as a full name for Betty?
I love Betty, but I’m worried it wouldn’t work as a standalone.
My favorite combo for Betty as a standalone would be Betty Abigail, which I think is quite lovely. I do worry that Betty would want more options as she grew up, however, so that’s why I’m asking for longer names. Additionally, I feel other nickname options such as Liz and Lizzie would be more intuitive for Elizabeth than Betty, and I’m not a fan of those.
Note: I cannot use Bethany.
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would be great!
I love [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabetta[/name_f] - the latter is stunning! I’m unsure if I’d be able to use it though, as I’m not Italian. It’s a great way to get to [name_f]Betty[/name_f] though - the “bett” sound is right there!
I’m also warming to the spelling of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], or even [name_f]Elisabet[/name_f] for the [name_f]Betty[/name_f] sound.
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] are lovely!
And same, just [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is really growing on me as well.
[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Embeth[/name_f] or at a push [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] , [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f].
There’s also [name_u]Betony[/name_u], it’s a woodland plant name but I’m thinking if you can’t use [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] then this would also be no good.
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f]. And its a big stretch but I have [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] nn [name_f]Beth[/name_f] on my list so [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] nn [name_f]Betty[/name_f] kind of makes sense.
I’m a big fan of [name_u]September[/name_u] “Betty” as a stretchier nickname! As for other options that haven’t been suggested yet, there’s [name_f]Bethel[/name_f], [name_f]Bettina[/name_f], [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f], & Babette…
I also think any name ending -ette or -etta could have [name_f]Betty[/name_f] as a nickname — I’m hoping rhyming nicknames become more common
thank you so much!
i love these suggestions.
i am also beginning to come to the conclusion that it might work as a standalone.
right now, i’m really loving the betty abigail combo that i’ve got in the post descriptor
i do really like elisabet and beatrix though!
