I have a son named [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Henry[/name] (nn [name]Alex[/name]). [name]Baby[/name] #2 is due in [name]March[/name]. We don’t know if it will be a girl or a boy. I normally like classic names with nice nickname options. Some of the names I’m considering are [name]Elizabeth[/name] ([name]Lizzy[/name]), [name]Anna[/name]/[name]Annabel[/name] ([name]Annie[/name]), and [name]Grace[/name] ([name]Gracie[/name]). I try to stay away from the most popular names even though I do like them (such as [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Ava[/name]). I started thinking about [name]Lucy[/name] today and I really love this name. I think it goes great with my son’s name [name]Alex[/name] ([name]Alex[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]). However, I don’t want to just name my daughter [name]Lucy[/name] and would prefer a more formal proper name with [name]Lucy[/name] as a nickname. My own name is [name]Julia[/name] but I went by [name]Julie[/name] until I was about 14 and then switched to [name]Julia[/name] bc I liked [name]Julia[/name] better. I want my daughter to have the same option in case she wants a more sophisticated name.
So what are the options for [name]Lucy[/name]? Here are the ones I’ve been able to find - what do you think of each of these? Like/dislike? Middle name would probably be either [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Ann[/name] or [name]Grace[/name]. Any other options?
[name]Lucia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Lucille[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be lovely combinations. [name]Lucinda[/name] and [name]Luciana[/name] are too ultra feminine and frilly for my taste. [name]Lucretia[/name] would be another option for the nn [name]Lucy[/name].
My oldest daughter is named [name]Lucilla[/name] ([name]Lu[/name]-SEE-yah) and we call her [name]Luci[/name]. I chose it because she was born in [name]November[/name] & it means “a little light” just what we needed in a chilly winter.
I love, love, love the name [name]Lucy/name! Either way you go its going to be a GREAT NAME! We always get compliments!
Honestly, I don’t love any of the full names for [name]Lucy[/name], and I think it could stand perfectly well by itself. I know several [name]Lucy[/name]'s, all BC’d [name]Lucy[/name]. I think it’s definitely a full name, and ages perfectly well. It’s beautiful. If you really don’t want to just name her [name]Lucy[/name], I guess [name]Lucia[/name] is the best.
but i’d love to push for [name]Lucy[/name] as a full name i just adore it.
I agree with pp. When I first saw the title of the post, I thought, just use [name]Lucy[/name] as a full name! On the other hand, I can see the appeal of finding a “grander” name to go with [name]Alexander[/name]. (BTW, [name]Alex[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are fantastic together!) So, I would suggest choosing a name that matches [name]Alexander[/name] the best. My favorites are [name]Luciana[/name] and [name]Lucinda[/name]. [name]Lucille[/name] is too old, and not in a ready-for-a-comeback way.
I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Lucinda[/name]! I am having daughter #3, and it’s a name I have wanted to use since my first daughter, but my husband wouldn’t agree I think it is a gorgeous name! Congrats on your little [name]Lucy[/name]!
