My 2 year old daughter said yesterday that she has a sister at home. Stumped myself as to what to name a sister to [name]Gwendolyn[/name] and thinking she may have a good idea, I asked her what her sister’s name is and she said, “[name]Ike[/name]!” very definitely. Now I have no idea where she heard the name [name]Ike[/name], or why she would think it is a girls’ name but it got me thinking if there are any girls names that could use [name]Ike[/name] as a nn.
I thought of something like [name]Iris[/name] [name]Katherine[/name], but can you think of anything??
All of which I think would be beautiful next to [name]Gwendolyn[/name]. I’m not overly sure on the “K” names, I think [name]Katherine[/name] is perfect personally. I can only really think of:
[name]Karina[/name]
[name]Kate[/name]
[name]Keturah[/name]
[name]Ekaterina[/name] (I think the K being so soon into the name means it could work well).
Or you could use a C name, that has the same hard “k” sound to it:
I know there is a HUGE debate on boys’ names for girls, and I’m not sure how you feel about a boyish formal first name, but if [name]Isak[/name] Dinesen (or [name]Karen[/name] Blixen, depending) did it, you could use [name]Isak[/name], nickname [name]Ike[/name]. Or how about [name]Karen[/name] for that matter? (I think [name]Ezekiel[/name], nickname I ke would work for a boy. I can’t think of a female equivalent for [name]Ezekiel[/name], though.) I really think it’s sweet that you are honoring your daughter’s suggestion, and I can see a little girl nicknamed [name]Ike[/name]. If the former president got [name]Ike[/name] out of [name]Dwight[/name], I say anything is fair game. (I like the suggestion of [name]Ekaterina[/name].)
Ooh, I hadn’t thought of [name]Veronica[/name] nn [name]Ike[/name] - that might work! I’m not expecting right now I just thought it was kind of a funny idea
You’re right about [name]Dwight[/name]! I like [name]Micah[/name] (and actually know a girl named this). I’m more of a feminine name kind of person, but [name]Micah[/name] nn [name]Ike[/name] definitely works!
