Are there any other names besides the obvious [name]Minerva[/name] and [name]Wilhelmina[/name] that could have [name]Minnie[/name] as a nickname? As much as I would love to be able to use [name]Wilhelmina[/name], it’s just too close to my fiance’s name ([name]William[/name]), and I would like to use it as a mn for a boy.
[name]Araminta[/name] or [name]Minette[/name] would be my picks, though I was told by someone else on this forum that [name]Minette[/name] has inappropriate connotations in [name]France[/name].
I adore the NN [name]Minnie[/name], and the FN [name]Wilhelmina[/name] and [name]Araminta[/name]. The NN [name]Minnie[/name] actually derives from [name]Wilhelmina[/name]. With that said, I think it can work for others:
I love the nn [name]Minnie[/name]…so cute! My daughter is obsessed w/ [name]Minnie[/name] Mouse though so not sure it would ever work in this house haha I think [name]Wilhelmina[/name] is def the best option but others have made lots of other suggestions that are usable. Though I don’t like any as much as [name]Wilhelmina[/name]! What if you never have a boy? It would be a great way to be sure you get to honour your husband’s name by using it for daughter. And if you’re always calling her [name]Minnie[/name] anyway then it’s not as if you’re saying [name]Wilhelmina[/name] and [name]William[/name] together all the time. [name]Just[/name] a thought!
I know a [name]Myrna[/name] who was called [name]Minnie[/name] growing up. I also think it couuld work as a nickname for [name]Maxine[/name] if you want to avoid [name]Maxi[/name].

SO many wonderful suggestions. I didn’t even think about [name]Amelia[/name], a name I really like, but has been growing too popular for my liking.
Does anyone think [name]Miriam[/name] would work as a full for [name]Minnie[/name]? Or does [name]Mimi[/name] make more sense? I can’t use [name]Mimi[/name], that was my sister [name]Mariah[/name]'s childhood nickname.
I second [name]Miranda[/name], [name]Marina[/name], and [name]Marianne[/name]/[name]Marianna[/name].

It is a nickname for many names starting with m, they don’t even have to have an -min- in them, but it is a cutesy nickname that people give. You could pretty much do any m name, [name]Mary[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Melanie[/name], [name]Michelle[/name], [name]Megan[/name], etc.
