Recently, my friend started a story with the main character’s older sister’s name being [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f], nn [name_f]Raz[/name_f]. Now, I have no idea why someone would name their child [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f] in real life, but I fell right in love with the nickname [name_f]Raz[/name_f]. I find that, though insubstantial as a full name, it is an adorable, spunky nickname. However, I have tried for nearly a month to think of full names and I honestly can’t find another name that contains the right letters to result in the nickname ‘[name_f]Raz[/name_f]’. I absolutely love it though, and don’t want to forget about it.
So, any suggestions (girls’ names) as to a full name for nickname [name_f]Raz[/name_f]?
[name_f]Roslyn[/name_f] was my first thought. I mean, “[name_f]Roz[/name_f]” is a natural nickname, so with [name_f]Raz[/name_f] not being far off, I think it’d work. [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] would be another one. [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]? I dunno, I’m making some stretches here, haha.
[name_f]Raziela[/name_f] is the most obvious option. Maybe [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f], although that’s a pretty big stretch. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] could work.
teacherma- [name_m]How[/name_m] is [name_f]Raziela[/name_f] pronounced? Liraz (LA raz I’m assuming) does seem like more of a boys’ name.
esswei- Once again, pronunciation? [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f] is not my cup of tea. I do like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], though.
Corazon – heart

These are more of a stretch, but still contain the right letters:

[name_f]Azaria[/name_f] (fire)
Nazaria (dedicate to god)
Parnaz (beauty of an angel)
dantea- Thank you so much! I found so many good names in that. That was awesome. XD
My favorites (by sound) were Corazon, [name_f]Graziella[/name_f], [name_f]Razia[/name_f], [name_f]Azaria[/name_f], and Nazaria. I think I liked Corazon and [name_f]Azaria[/name_f] the best.
By meaning, my favorite by far was [name_f]Orazia[/name_f], followed by Parnaz. I also liked the meaning of Corazon.
Thank you once again!
I think my very favorite was Corazon, second [name_f]Orazia[/name_f], third [name_f]Azaria[/name_f].
I don’t think it actually needs to contain a Z.
Z’s get used as a way of shortening many names such as [name_u]Darren[/name_u] to Daz and [name_u]Gary[/name_u] to Gaz, [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] to Maz etc etc
So I think as long as the name starts with [name_m]Ra[/name_m] and sounds Rah not [name_u]Ray[/name_u] it could work.
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] for eg.
I think this is one of those names you can get really creative with. For example, you could give her three names: [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and make it spell out (initially) to [name_f]RAZ[/name_f].
Someone suggested Raspberry and I think that’s a great idea. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], too. [name_f]Razi[/name_f] is another name!
If you want to be really creative, [name_f]Raz[/name_f] in Hebrew means “secret.” You could look for names you like that mean secret, too.
suzywoo- I didn’t think of that. I bet it would work with both [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] (Can’t think of any others off the top of my head but I’m sure there are more.)
sigma/lainy- That’s a very interesting concept! I actually like that a lot, because then I could adapt the names to sort of ‘my style’ which would be a little hard to do if I was stuck to just names with ‘[name_f]Raz[/name_f]’ in them. Good idea!
Adrasteia – the inescapable one (ah-dras-tee-ah)
Anbarasi – queen of compassion
Araseli – alter of the sky
Erasema – filled with happiness
Erasma – lovable
Erasta – peaceful woman
Karasi – full of wisdom and life
Prasanna – serene
Rasana – beam of light
Rasia – rose
Samarasa – having equal bliss
Surasa – excellent nector
Rexie or [name_f]Roxy[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] or [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Raquel[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Rachelle[/name_f], or [name_f]Rochelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Rosita[/name_f], or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] could also be nicknamed [name_f]Raz[/name_f]. or any RZ or [name_f]RAZ[/name_f] initials.
viviana- [name_f]Orazia[/name_f] is nice, and I like [name_f]Arizona[/name_f], but I think its a bit of a stretch.
dantea- Thank you again! I love Karasi and Rasia.
shvibziks- I pronounce [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]ROZ[/name_f] a lyn so it would work very well.
montana- I don’t think I’d go so far as Raspberry, but [name_u]Riley[/name_u] would also work. I pronounce [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] ‘[name_f]ROSE[/name_f]-ell-a’ so that wouldn’t work, and neither would [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
ashleyjuliette- [name_f]Roxy[/name_f], [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], and [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f] are all nice names, but a bit of a stretch. I like [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Rochelle[/name_f], and they might work. [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] would work, as would [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].
