Fungi Names!
I live in the [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Northwest of the US, and mushroom hunting is a big thing out here. I’m moderately obsessed, personally, so here is my list of mushroom genera that could potentially be used as names.
Amanita
Calocera
Clavaria
Tremella
Cortinarius
Mycena
Aleuria
Galerina
Stropharia
Nolanea
Xylaria
Helvella
Calvatia

Wow, was this meant for me? I’m in a nearby area and mushroom hunting is not as much of a thing as I would like!
I think Amanita, Galerina, and Mycena would make pretty names!
Chanterelle, Morel, [name_f]Amethyst[/name_f] for common names, and Agaric is not too far off from [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and [name_m]Eric[/name_m]. And Bolete sounds sort of name-y if it is boh-leh-teh
I like the idea of using famous mycologist or mycology adjacent names: [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_f]Arora[/name_f] / [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_u]Maria[/name_u], [name_f]Sabina[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Arora[/name_f] would be great! I actually pulled all of these out of Mushrooms Demystified
Chanterelle always makes me think of that one episode in [name_f]Buffy[/name_f] the Vampire Slayer season 3:
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]- “‘Chantarelle’ was part of my exotic phase.”
[name_f]Buffy[/name_f]- “It’s nice. It’s a mushroom.”
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]- [alarmed] “It is? …That’s…really embarrassing.”
[name_f]Buffy[/name_f]- “Well, it’s an exotic mushroom, if that’s any comfort.”

I’ve been in love with Amanita ever since watching Sense8. Swoon!

I personally loooove the look and sound of Xylaria. Unfortunately it’s probably the least appealing in terms of the actual fungi belonging to that genera,
Xylaria polymorpha, which is actually a really cool fungus that is responsible for the spalting of hardwoods like maple, but goes by the common name of dead man’s fingers
Xylaria lonipes, “dead moll’s fingers”
[name_u]Or[/name_u], my personal favorite,
Xylaria hypoxylon, the candlesnuff or stag’s horn fungus.
Clavatia, Tremella, and Calocera are probably the most appealing, looks-wise.
Amanita can go either way because Amanita muscaria is super visually appealing but then you’ve got species in there like the death cap, maybe not so great.
Nolanea are actually pretty boring looking
Mycena are all adorable and look like fairy hats.
Dont think I would ever go for any of these in the first name spot, but could be great for middles.
I have a huge thing for poison gardens and things that are both beautiful and deadly, so the death cap does not deter me in the slightest >_> haha

Wow, these names would be perfect for characters in a high fantasy novel!
