hmmm, what do you girls think?
[name]Gabriella[/name] is so pretty! I wouldn’t even want to use a nickname, but I understand wanting a nickname with a longer name.
[name]Gabby[/name] is my favorite nickname. For starters, it is intuitive/natural to call her [name]Gabby[/name]. It is also adorable, fun and fresh. I think it is a very sweet nn.
[name]Ella[/name] is nice but she would share her name with many (who have [name]Ella[/name] either as a given name or a nickname), so she may end up preferring [name]Gabriella[/name] if there is another [name]Ella[/name] in her class.
I love [name]Bree[/name] – I think it is simple, cute and classy.
[name]Gia[/name] is so pretty and cute! Although the ‘G’ sounds in [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Gia[/name] are different, I think it could still work as a nn. As a future sibling option, I don’t think I like it as a stand-alone name. It is too nicknamey for me in general, but especially next to a sister with a longer, more substantial name like [name]Gabriella[/name]. [name]Just[/name] my opinion!
[name]How[/name] old is your daughter? You could just wait until she develops more of a personality and her nickname should become clear. In the meantime, if people ask what her nickname is, just tell them you are calling her [name]Gabriella[/name] for now. She can have more than one nickname, too.
[name]Gabby[/name] is my first choice. It’s cute, simple, and since it’s the most obvious nickname it’s probably the one people will use automatically. [name]Ella[/name] is very cute as well, but you’re right, it is popular right now.
I love [name]Gia[/name]. So cute. It’s not the most obvious choice for a nickname though. Maybe you could use it as a nickname for [name]Gillian[/name], Evangaline, [name]Angelina[/name] for another baby.
Out of curiousity, do you think a child should have only one nickname, or is it okay for them to use a few different ones?
Thanks guys! You’re answers were very helpful.
[name]Gabby[/name]'s the most common nickname for [name]Gabriella[/name]. Stop fighting the simply obvious.
yeah, I hear you
This is obviously bothering you a lot. I get the feeling you’re trying to force yourself to like the name [name]Gabby[/name]. Personally I’d probably introduce her as [name]Gabriella[/name] but not bother to correct people who want to call her [name]Gabby[/name]. Most people will get used to calling her by full name eventually. They probably just say [name]Gabby[/name] without thinking about it because so many Gabriellas use that as a nickname. Good luck. I hope you feel better about this soon
I do like it but it sounds like you don’t. I think you should just continue to gently correct people and call her by her full name and people will get it. It’s a beautiful name!

yeah, I can’t just force myself to like that nn
Wonderful! And there was your answer in your username all along!
It’s funny how things work themselves out sometimes. The nickname [name]Bella[/name] is very sweet!
