Gabrielle or Arielle?

Still building my list for our 2nd child. Not pregnant yet, but hoping to be in the next few months. Boy names are easy - we’ve already agreed on two. Girl names though are much much harder, I find.

[name_f]My[/name_f] ever evolving list now contains [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Viviane[/name_f] (still unsure about the spelling), [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Livia[/name_f] (this one is new) and a few more.

[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] is a name I’ve been considering too, but with a cousin my age named [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], I think it could get somewhat awkward. He mostly goes by [name_m]Gabe[/name_m], and at most we see him once every couple of years, if that. I am, however, pretty close to his parents and so are my parents… [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] though!

Otherwise, I’m also considering [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], which sounds very very similar to [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]. What do you think of this name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] (visually or how it sounds)? Has it shed its little mermaid image yet? [name_m]How[/name_m] do you see this name on a grown woman?

Big sister is [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. Thanks!

I like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Arielle[/name_f]!
I think it’s basically shed it’s little mermaid image…I’m an 80s kid and I would definitely use it for a daughter now with no worries
Good luck!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]? Maybe as a middle name?

I prefer [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] spelling-wise. I’ve never met a grown-up [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], but while it feels like a youthful name , it’s not at all childish and would age well. [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] (pronounced differently, with emphasis on the elle) is more feminine if that’s what you prefer.

I love the names on your list, they would all go well with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].

Thanks! [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] is definitely a contender at the moment (hope my husband will like it too!).

[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] is nice, but it seems a little too nicknamey to me. Thanks for the suggestion though

I prefer the spelling and pronunciation [name_f]Arielle[/name_f]. [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is my fave from your list though
