Gaia?

I was aware of the name through mythology, but had never given it much thought as a name until I caught an episode of ‘[name_m]Spartacus[/name_m]: Gods of the Arena’. I looked it up, and it’s very popular in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] now, and in Italian ‘[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]’ means ‘happy’, and in Greek means ‘earth’ (hence [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] being the Greek [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of [name_f]Earth[/name_f]).

After hearing it used, I’ve come to really like it. What are your opinions of the name? What sort of girl/woman do you imagine with this name?

I think of one of my sister’s best friends. Her middle name is [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], which she’s proud of, and she’s never gotten an indifferent reaction. People either think it’s really cool or say something like, “Whoa, your mom must really be a hippie.” And she is. My sister’s friend comes from a very crunchy, alternative sort of family. She’s very sweet, loves animals and the outdoors, and very firm in her beliefs.

Strong hippie vibe to me, but I like it.

Not a fan at all

I love it! I imagine a [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] as a strong, feminine, and earthy sort of woman in the best sense of the words.

[name_f]Gaia[/name_f] is so beautiful! I think the connection to Mother [name_f]Earth[/name_f] is very deep and very beautiful. I would love to meet someone named [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]!

I think it is a definitely better middle name than a first!

I think [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] is a gorgeous name! Why shouldn’t it work as a first? It’s short, lively, easy to pronounce and spell, and similar in sound to more popular names like [name_f]Maya[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]. I don’t find it particularly hippie - to me, names like [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_f]Lark[/name_f] and [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] are a lot more obvious in their nature/hippie vibe.

I think it’s a lovely name, but imo not really usable in real life.
