Gazelle and a Ewe

I think I am set on a girl’s name now of [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] but one of our contenders was [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] until I found out that her name would literally mean gazelle Ewe which was a bit much for my liking.
Thoughts?

Tabitha is very sweet! It reminds me of [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f], both of which are awesome! I don’t think the meanings of either [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] or [name_u]Rae[/name_u] are well known, however if it is a deal breaker for you, how about another one syllable mn such as [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] [name_u]Vrai[/name_u], [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u], [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] [name_u]Cal[/name_u]. I love short middles.

Thanks for the suggestions. We do have our top choices of [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] was the one that I liked too but unsure about both names being related to animals.

I dont think a lot of people would notice but if it bothers you, maybe you’d like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] or [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f] not too keen on [name_f]Renee[/name_f] but thanks for the suggestions

Tabitha [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] are my favorites but I don’t think [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] would be a problem at all. I like @Greyblue suggestion of [name_f]Faye[/name_f]/Fae too.

I think [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] is lovely and I honestly don’t think people would notice or pay attention to the meanings despite being animal orientated

Thank you. Perhaps I can put it back into our list then. [name_f]My[/name_f] mum’s middle name is [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] too and I read it can be short for [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. So maybe that’s a good reason

I love [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]! [name_u]Rae[/name_u] feels a bit bland, a bit filler to me, so that makes me already dislike it, and, though most people don’t know the meaning of either name, it is a lot. what about [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Rue[/name_u]?

I don’t think it’s a big deal—[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] is sweet, and I like the connection to your mom! And it’s not like the meanings are negative or anything, but I agree that people are unlikely to pay attention to that anyway.

If it bothers you though, an easy fix would be to spell it [name_u]Ray[/name_u]—then it’s associated with sunlight. But I don’t know if you’d like that as much…

I quite like it really. It’s like a subtle animal name.

Does rue mean regret? Hahah it’s a bit of a sad name meaning :flushed:

I see what you mean but I think [name_u]Ray[/name_u] is masculine which bothers me a bit.

Tabitha [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is our first choice at the moment but they are both quite strong names. Not sure if strong is the right word so not sure if something softer would be best for a middle.

Are there any nice one/two possibly three syllable R names. I think the [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] with an R middle has quite nice flow?

Wren and [name_u]Lark[/name_u] for instance are nice?
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]?

I love both [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_u]Lark[/name_u] with [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
Any of the [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names would be pretty if you wanted the R sound. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] I say as two syllables but I guess they could be three.
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_f]Rhea[/name_f]

There’s also Raelle (or Raëlle), which is fairly close to [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. But I really love so many of those R names with [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], especially [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], which I think add a lot of modern pop to [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]. You’re right—so many nice options!

Think of what a gazelle and ewe may symbolize, like swiftness/grace and peace/safety. Does that change things for you?
