I love this name but I’m not sure which gender it works better on… I only knew ONE Male [name_u]Dale[/name_u] (rhyme not intended) and ONE Female [name_u]Dale[/name_u].
So I wanted to turn to you to see what you prefer…

Definitely see it as a boy name!
Xx
I have met a female [name_u]Dale[/name_u]. She was an older woman. I don’t think I would name a girl [name_u]Dale[/name_u] these days. Not only does it seem more masculine but it is also associated with negative stereotypes. Think [name_u]Dale[/name_u] from [name_m]King[/name_m] of the [name_m]Hill[/name_m].
I can see it on either, but I’ve only ever met a male [name_u]Dale[/name_u]
i’d always assumed this was a 100% male name until just now, but i can see how it could be refreshing on a girl !
The only [name_u]Dale[/name_u] I know is a woman! But, I like the name for any gender!
Boy!
I actually didn’t know that [name_u]Dale[/name_u] was in use for girls (from my perspective here in the UK). On a girl, it takes on a whole new aspect - bringing out its lovely nature meaning - and I kind of like it.
The Dale’s I know are former NASCAR drivers [name_u]Dale[/name_u] Earnhardt Sr, [name_u]Dale[/name_u] [name_m]Jarrett[/name_m], [name_u]Dale[/name_u] Earnhardt [name_m]Jr[/name_m]. and current World of Outlaws race car driver [name_u]Dale[/name_u] Blaney
Male.
I think it works for either gender, although more uncommon for either right now.
I have a close female family member with this name, so that sways me some. I will say that she has felt like it was a struggle for people just seeing her name to know she was a female. She showed her maiden on lots of things, like business cards, or put Mrs. [name_u]Dale[/name_u] ____ ____ to make it easier. I know she still would have mail address to Mr. [name_u]Dale[/name_u] ____. It has been a bit of struggle for her.
I do know a couple of male Dale’s too, plus the NASCAR drivers mentioned above (I’m in the [name_u]Southern[/name_u] US).
Boy.
I know both men and women named [name_u]Dale[/name_u], but I think the automatic assumption with this name is that it’s a male name. It has a different feeling as a female name, I think, than it does as a male name.
Male…I’ve never known it to be used on women
I’ve known an older woman named [name_u]Dale[/name_u], she wore it pretty well. I think most people would assume boy when seeing it, it’s pretty dated on a boy though so I think it could be just slightly fresher on a girl today
I would probably assume boy, but I think it’s pretty neutral as a name, like many other word/nature names. I always think of [name_u]Dale[/name_u] and [name_u]Daryl[/name_u] together and I know both a male and female [name_u]Daryl[/name_u] so that might help! I don’t have a strong gender preference for the name either way, but I do like it.
i didn’t even know it was used as a fem name until now! i like it on a girl though, it feels playful and fresh.
Completely male to me…. In fact the visual I get is [name_m]Chip[/name_m] and [name_u]Dale[/name_u]. I do see [name_f]Gail[/name_f] as a girl though!
I see it as gender neutral but I’ve only known male Dales personally
I had no clue anyone used it as a girl name!! I’m shocked! It is 100% masculine to me.
