Thanks everyone! I super appreciate it!
To throw some curve balls in the mix…
Callum/Cal, Sullivan/Sully, Sonny/Sunny, Bennie/Bennett, Penn, Jess/Jesse, and Lennox/Lenny are other names we LOVE but can’t use!
Ozzie is the name of my childhood cat and Parry is actually the name of our dog too. All good signs that we are on the right track and definitely have a “type” when it comes to names.
I love Rooney and Tully but wonder if they sound like pet names give our animal names. I would prefer a name without a y or ie ending.
I love Hollis and Merritt but my partner doesn’t.
Bellamy and Britton are actually both family names that we love but I hate the nicknames of Bella/Bell and Britt because they are really opposite to our style and very feminine.
Wynn/Winn is a favourite because I think it strikes the perfect balance of familiar but not popular, soft, historical, artsy, outdoorsy, bookish but I don’t love any of the longer forms it comes with. We also love Sol for the same reasons but don’t like Soleil or Soloman as long forms. I know a longer name isn’t necessary but with a one syllable last name it sounds sort of choppy without it. This is the same case with Ren/Renn.
Names that break the double consonants and/or two syllable rule that I love are Hayes, Bowen, Lowen, Ireland, Reed, Fern, Grady, Shea, Marlow, Teague.
Thanks so much!
