Gender neutral names?

[name_m]HI[/name_m]

So. My character needs a name. I’ll describe her the best way that I can, both physically and psychologically. Here goes.

She’s 16, 5.6’’ (170cm), around 143lbs (65kg), a bit chubby, wide shoulders and somewhat curvy. Her hair is blonde, a bit above the shouldes (sort of bob(?) fashion, and sometimes outside and usually at home, wears a little bun so her hair won’t go into her eyes), she wears glasses, blue-green eyes but with partial heterochromia on her right one as it is half brown. Her skin tone is pretty fair, kind of pink-ish even. Her style of clothing lies within shirts or not-that-large-but-not-that-tight dark t-shirts, black pants, black and white converse.

As for her personality, she has days in which she is very outgoing and energetic, others when she just wants to stay inside, not talk to anybody and just become invisible. She loves art and creating stories, plays the piano but isn’t too passionate about that; watching series, movies, listening to podcasts, reading and playing video games are some of her hobbies. She can be passionate about some things, although one small setback can make her whole hopeful spirit crumble to pieces. She also has experienced some mild depression for a year in the past, and she is not 101% over with it, as she too often wonders “what’s it all for?”. She is aloof most of the time, and terrible with practical tasks. She has some anger issues, but is trying to fix that. She is pretty accepting of people and strives to meet new kinds of people, and is a good listener (not that good at giving advice, but does her best). I don’t know if this is worth mentioning but she loves rock, a few metal songs, jazz, steampunk-ish music, and absolutely adores movie and game soundtracks.

I also would like to mention (and I’m blaming Tumblr for this), is that this character is also struggling a bit to find both sexuality and gender, especially the latter, as she believes she might be somewhat non-binary (anything outside of the male and female binary) - again, I don’t know if this is worth mentioning but she would absolutely be up for experiencing at LEAST a day with a flat chest.

This is why I’m asking for gender neutral names, as I don’t want her (or them - I’m honestly still deciding on her pronouns, but I might just go for both she and they) to have a strictly female name. I also wanted a “cool” sounding name, so I though that may, just maybe, she could be using a name she chose for herself (that gives me the choice of any name, independently of the century and place the story takes place, which I thought I’d take adventage of). I was thinking perhaps a name from ancient greek/roman mythology, maybe gods/goddesses in general - there are quite a few that would sound good as either gender, so submit those too! -, names of creatures in ancient literature, or any name that isn’t very used (especially not in the English language, as this name isn’t to be pronounced in an English-speaking country). If the name has a story behind it that you find interesting, please, let me know!

Thank you for reading, and sorry for the long post!

That sure sounds like a lot to deal with!

[name_u]Artemis[/name_u] - mythology, unisex, connection to a “fighter” - this has everything you want
[name_u]Alexis[/name_u] - is simply the first one I thought of
Narciss - technically male but could work, maybe spell it [name_u]Narcisse[/name_u]
Nikephoros - I found this looking for an ancient unisex name. Means “to carry victory”. Could shorten to [name_u]Nike[/name_u].
[name_u]Jamie[/name_u] - is the most unisex name I can think of
[name_f]Aquila[/name_f] - “eagle” in latin. Was worn my men and women
[name_u]Puck[/name_u] - after the genderless Shakespearean character
Jyrgal - since you asked for super out-there stuff, this means happiness in Kyrgyz
Amor - too much leaning to the male side?
[name_u]Carey[/name_u], [name_u]Devan[/name_u], [name_u]Shea[/name_u], [name_u]Billie[/name_u] - just some more ideas

[name_f]Indian[/name_f] mythology has some good ones. (Browse Names - Behind the Name)

Good luck with your story, I’d like to read it one day!

Thank you so much for the names! I honestly really like [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], and I’ll definitely check out the [name_f]Indian[/name_f] mythology list!
Could I ask your opinion on the name [name_f]Juno[/name_f], as it has crossed my mind, but I’m not sure if I should or not use it. I know it is normally female but it sounds pretty unissex to me - it’s ok if it’s male or female as long as it sounds unissex (much like Narciss)
