Gender surprise due in January - help please!?! :)

Hello,

I am a new poster to Nameberry, but have been lurking (stalking) for a few months now and I [name]LOVE[/name] reading your suggestions! I would love some help for my second baby, due in [name]January[/name]. We are on Team [name]Green[/name] and hubby and I are having some major issues deciding!

My DD is [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] (last name is a 3 syllable-2 syllable hyphen).

Here are our top names, but we would gladly welcome other suggestions and combinations!

Thanks so much, in advance!

[name]Rebecca[/name]

Girl-
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name]

Boy-
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Rex[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Zane[/name] (mn only)
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Lincoln[/name]

Ooh [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] is just beautiful! I can’t wait to see what you choose for #2, I hope I can help with that too

Out of your top names, I love [name]Iris[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] for a girl, and [name]Felix[/name] or [name]Dexter[/name] for a boy (I love the subtle sibling connection with the x’s).
[name]Theodore[/name] is wonderful, but [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] rhyme (in my accent anyway) so they’re a bit too matchy.

Combinations out of your top names:
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Georgia[/name]

[name]Felix[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Lincoln[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Zane[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Lincoln[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Calvin[/name]

Suggestions based on your daughters name, and your top lists: (sorry the lists are so large, I’m a firm believer in more choice being better than less :p)

Boys:
[name]James[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Vincent[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Quentin[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Julian[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name], [name]Asher[/name], [name]Simon[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Charles[/name], [name]Reuben[/name], [name]Graham[/name], [name]Laurence[/name], [name]Peter[/name]

I’ll do some combinations based on my suggestions next post  Hopefully you like some of my suggestions.

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] and…
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Verity[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Adele[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]

[name]Leo[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] [name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] [name]Laurence[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]James[/name] [name]William[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Quentin[/name]

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] is lovely!

[name]Iris[/name]: I love [name]Iris[/name], and I think [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] are absolutely gorgeous together.

[name]Josephine[/name]: It goes wonderfully with [name]Eleanor[/name]! Lots of nickname possibility, too.

[name]Adeline[/name]: I’m not really a fan. It seems like [name]Madeline[/name] with the M chopped off, rather than a name in its own right (which I know it is). It may be just me, but it doesn’t feel as classic as [name]Eleanor[/name]…

[name]Georgia[/name]: I’ve never liked the [name]George[/name] names, but if I had to pick one with [name]Eleanor[/name] it would be [name]Georgiana[/name].

[name]Mabel[/name]: I find [name]Mabel[/name] overly cutesy and sugary, but it’s not a terrible name. It’s by far my least favorite on your list. I’m not sure how well it goes with [name]Eleanor[/name], either…

I think either [name]Iris[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] would be lovely! What about [name]Iris[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]? Other names:

[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Julia[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]

[name]Theodore[/name]: I really like it, and it’s my favorite on your list, but I’m not sure about the matching endings of [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name]…

[name]Rex[/name]: Total dog name. I wouldn’t do it.

[name]Finn[/name]: I love [name]Finn[/name], but it’s pretty trendy… have you thought about [name]Finnian[/name], [name]Fintan[/name], or [name]Phineas[/name] with [name]Finn[/name] as a nickname?

[name]Dexter[/name]: I think it may be too associated with the TV show… either way, I’m not a huge fan, especially with [name]Eleanor[/name].

[name]Zane[/name]: It seems trendy and dated, but it’s fine in the middle.

[name]Felix[/name]: I think this may be my favorite so far… it’s very nice with [name]Eleanor[/name].

[name]Calvin[/name]: It’s great with [name]Eleanor[/name]!

[name]Lincoln[/name]: Too surnamey for me…

My favorites are [name]Finn[/name], [name]Felix[/name], and [name]Calvin[/name]. Other names:

[name]Declan[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]August[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]

All your names are great!

Girl-
[name]Iris[/name]- very cute love
[name]Josephine[/name]- I like the name but dislike nn josie
[name]Adeline[/name]- cute again I dont like nn [name]Addy[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]- like but its very very common in my area (los [name]Angeles[/name])

Boy-
[name]Theodore[/name]- love cutest nn [name]Theo[/name]
[name]Rex[/name]- nice
[name]Finn[/name]- in theory a nice name but I swear I know more [name]Finn[/name]'s than [name]Aiden[/name]'s
[name]Dexter[/name]- Very nice
[name]Zane[/name] (mn only)- ok a little more modern/trendy than your other options
[name]Felix[/name]- very suave i like
[name]Calvin[/name]- a solid choice it just doesnt excite me
[name]Lincoln[/name]- I have bad association w this name

My suggestions:
[name]June[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Gwyneth[/name]

[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Malcom[/name]

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for your suggestions! My husband and I have been discussing non-stop!

I think that we are narrowing in on the following girls names, we really, really love [name]Iris[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name], so it”s down to these 3 (thoughts?).

” [name]Iris[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
” [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
” [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Iris[/name]

For the record, I also love [name]Hazel[/name], but can”t get hubs to go for that one for some reason.

For boys, we are having the hardest time, here is where we stand:

” [name]Theodore[/name]- still our top choice, but we can”t get past the rhyming issue, as mentioned above, so I think that it”s out for a first name
” [name]Theo[/name]- does anyone have thoughts on this as a proper name?
” [name]Felix[/name]- I am really starting to like this one
” [name]Calvin[/name]- I am a big fan of the nn [name]Cal[/name], so I think that we need to keep this on the list, I don”t know that the full name really ”wows” me
” [name]Sebastian[/name]- At first I thought that this was too”namey”.but [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name] actually sound really nice together”[name]Seb[/name] for a nn is pretty cute”DH isn”t committing to this one (he immediately thinks of the crab from The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid)
” [name]George[/name]- adding this one back to the list, it”s my dear old grandfather, who is one of the best people I have ever met”.
” [name]Dexter[/name]- I can”t say for sure, it”s a great name, but darn you, [name]Michael[/name] C. [name]Hall[/name] for making [name]Dexter[/name] the serial killer a household name!

Here are some initial thoughts on combos:

[name]Felix[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name] [name]Rex[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Rex[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]George[/name]

[name]Love[/name] them, hate them?

Names we like, but can”t use:
[name]Henry[/name]- [name]Love[/name] it! Too bad it”s uber popular in the [name]Boston[/name] area right now ?
[name]Malcolm[/name]- I really like, but I can”t get past the ”[name]Malcolm[/name] in the middle” reference, especially since this is baby #2 out of (hopefully) 3 children total

oh, I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]! Gorgeous! It sounds perfect with [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name], too.

For boys, my favorite is [name]Sebastian[/name] [name]George[/name], but I also like [name]George[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name].

I do like [name]Felix[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] a lot, but it is very much a “mirror image” of your daughters name (his name rhymes with hers, but in reverse). Which is actually pretty neat in my opinion, but you may not think so.

I think [name]Iris[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is a perfect sibset for [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]. I think it flows better than [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Iris[/name]. [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is ok. From your boys list, I like [name]Sebastian[/name] [name]George[/name] (especially nice that it honours your grandfather) and both [name]Felix[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]. [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Dexter[/name] don’t seem right to me and I really dislike [name]Calvin[/name] (makes me think of chipmunks). The best boys name with [name]Eleanor[/name] is definitely [name]Sebastian[/name] in my opinion. Are you going to stick with one middle name? [name]How[/name] about [name]Sebastian[/name] [name]George[/name] [name]Tobias[/name]? Best wishes to you!

[name]Mabel[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is my favorite of your girl list.

I absolutely love [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Lincoln[/name]!!!
[name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name] [name]Jack[/name] (my cousin’s name is [name]Calvin[/name] and goes by [name]Cal[/name])
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Rex[/name] (I love [name]Theo[/name] as a fn by itself)
