Geneva vs Guinevere vs Ginevra...help!

I am trying to shorten my list of girl names so I need to choose just one to seriously put on our short list! I love them all and can’t decide! Some other names we like are [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name]. We are trying to get our list down to a top three, so please help up!

[name]Geneva[/name]
or
[name]Guinevere[/name]
or
[name]Ginevra[/name]

What do you think?

I like [name]Geneva[/name] best. I think that might have the best chance of people knowing how to spell it / understand it right the first time they hear it (like the city, like [name]Gene[/name]/[name]Jen[/name] + eva). It gets you [name]Gen[/name], [name]Nev[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Eve[/name], and [name]Evie[/name] as nicknames, which most of the rest do too to be fair, but maybe this one gets them the most easily. It also feels the most similar to your other two favorites.

[name]Guinevere[/name] is lovely, but the name will be hard for some people to spell / hear and tied heavily to the Arthurian character, who’s a bit of a mixed bag of a heritage.

[name]Ginevra[/name] - again, lovely, but hard for some to spell / hear. Plus I look at that spelling and see “[name]Gin[/name]” really prominently, I mean, that’s not the worst thing, but you don’t have it with the other two, either.

I do like that the latter two can get [name]Vera[/name] as a nn, that’s one of my favorite names on its own.

I’m curious why [name]Genevieve[/name] isn’t on the list?

Best wishes!

Me and my husband actually had a [name]Genevieve[/name] vs [name]Guinevere[/name] discussion just an hour ago! [name]Genevieve[/name] eventually got our vote!

I would therefore suggest [name]Genevieve[/name] instead of [name]Geneva[/name]. The pp also already added the reason why we did not pick [name]Guinevere[/name].
And also we love [name]Arthur[/name] for a boy and thought it would be to theme-y to also go with [name]Guinevere[/name]. I still love it though.

So [name]Genevieve[/name] or [name]Guinevere[/name]. I don’t love [name]Geneva[/name] or [name]Ginevra[/name]!

Definitely [name]Ginevra[/name]! It’s unusual, strong, pretty, and associated with [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] (always a plus in my book. ). [name]Geneva[/name] is much too tied to the city and the convention; it’s way less classic and seems a bit dated. I’m really not a fan of places used as names. [name]Guinevere[/name] is lovely but I feel like it’s too over the top for an actual child. [name]Amelie[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], and [name]Ginevra[/name] are all gorgeous!

[name]Ginevra[/name], no doubt, is the standout to me!

Of those three, I like [name]Ginevra[/name]. [name]Ginny[/name]'s so cute! But personally, my favorite of the family is [name]Genevieve[/name].

[name]Geneva[/name], followed by [name]Ginevra[/name] (even though my city has a [name]Geneva[/name] [name]Street[/name] ) I’ve always thought [name]Geneva[/name] was so pretty.

If you like place names and an easier name to spell go with [name]Geneva[/name].
If you like ethereal, mythological, romantic names go with [name]Guinevere[/name].
If you like something more European and exotic go with [name]Ginevra[/name]!

My picks in order of preference.
1 [name]Ginevra[/name]
2 [name]Guinevere[/name]
3 [name]Geneva[/name]

I’m not one to take the easier route!
All the best!

Thank everyone! I think I have taken [name]Guinevere[/name] off my list. Although its beautiful, I think it may be too much to saddle a child with.

Then there were two! Hmm [name]Geneva[/name] or [name]Ginevra[/name]. I think I would use the nickname [name]Neva[/name] for [name]Geneva[/name] and Evra for [name]Ginevra[/name]. I am really torn between these two. Which do you think sounds better with our last name? It is one syllable and sounds like [name]Winn[/name]. We are pretty sure we are going to use the middle name [name]Lee[/name] as it is a family name on both sides, but it is not set in stone. ( Especially with the names [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name]- too many similar sounds)

[name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Lee[/name] [name]Winn[/name]

[name]Geneva[/name] [name]Lee[/name] [name]Winn[/name]

I’d really like your help deciding between these final two, you guys have been great so far!
