George for a girl?

Her name is [name]Georgina[/name], though.

I actually love [name]George[/name] for a fn for a little girl. You could go with [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Georgie[/name], or [name]Gigi[/name] too - all good choices [name]IMO[/name].

Um I say no, But I like [name]Georgia[/name] and you could call her [name]Georgie[/name] :).

Sorry, I know a lot of you like the female versions of [name]George[/name], but I don’t. I’m fully aware that [name]Georgia[/name] is the feminine version but I just don’t like it. Which is why I asked about [name]George[/name]. I love [name]George[/name] and since I was a little girl I’ve wanted to use [name]George[/name] as a mn for a girl. I always thought it was maybe a little too strange and realized most people wouldn’t like it but lately it seems like male names in the middle spot for girls is becoming more and more acceptable. I personally know 2 little girls with the middle name [name]James[/name], [name]Carson[/name] [name]Daly[/name] just used [name]Jones[/name] and I’ve heard of girls with the mn [name]Michael[/name] before. I was just curious whether or not other people felt that a male name in the middle spot was more acceptable now than maybe it was in the past. The female versions are not an option for me because I love [name]George[/name] so much.

I say no, [name]Georgia[/name] is pretty though!!! with the nn [name]George[/name] or [name]Georgie[/name] as a nn :).

I’ve actually seen [name]George[/name] used as a middle name for a little girl. Her name is [name]Henrietta[/name] [name]George[/name].

I really like it.

[name]Sylvie[/name] [name]George[/name] would be fantastic!

I think it’s really cute for a girl, but then again I love traditionally masculine names for girls. The main girl in Dead Like Me’s name is [name]Georgia[/name] but they all call her [name]George[/name] anyway. I like it either as a first name or middle name. I say if you love it, use it. I am dead set on using [name]Emerson[/name] for my little girl’s name (fingers crossed, ha) when I know people are pretty divided on that name too.

I don’t understand the point in asking for opinions if you’re dead set on using the name anyway.
You asked, the general consensus was it wasn’t a good idea.

I’m not dead set on using [name]George[/name]. I’m set on using [name]George[/name] instead of a female version if I use it at all. The point of my question was to see if in comparison to [name]James[/name], [name]Jones[/name], [name]Michael[/name], etc… if [name]George[/name] was still too weird.

I’m glad you’re going to use it (if you choose to honour [name]George[/name].) Invariably, some people won’t like it and find it weird. [name]Atticus[/name] is a [name]Berry[/name] favourite - some people won’t like that and will find it weird. Some people will love it. I quite like [name]George[/name] as a mn for a girl - and one day I’d consider [name]George[/name] as a mn for a boy. I don’t see the big deal - it’s just in the middle name spot. Compared to [name]James[/name], [name]Jones[/name] and [name]Michael[/name], it’s not weird to me, it’s just people honouring family members. Names like that on girls would only be problematic as a fn.

[name]Will[/name] be rooting for [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]George[/name]! ^^

As a middle name, I think you can get away with it especially when you are naming them after someone. However, as a first name, I would have to veto it.

I think [name]George[/name] as a middle name sounds great. I wouldn’t use [name]George[/name] as a fn for a girl and you clearly are not considering it either but as a mn I think it rather darling.

Also what’s great about it is that if you ended up with a [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]George[/name] who decided she wanted to be a child movie-star, writer or over achiever. [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]George[/name] could be a great moniker. It sounds like a proper name.

I think as it is a daughter not a son that the name [name]Lester[/name] should be the one for consideration because that way the girl gets the link to her heritage via the surname in the family. If it was me I would simply use the classic and vastly underused [name]Georgina[/name] and leave [name]George[/name] for the boys where it belongs.

rollo

I really do appreciate all the feed back. We’re not set on anything but I do think [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]George[/name] is just as cute as [name]Drew[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] or [name]Etta[/name] [name]Jones[/name]. [name]Lester[/name] is actually not the last name, it was his middle name, last name was [name]Anderson[/name].

Usually my one rule about ‘boy names’ on girls is that it’s okay, as long as there isn’t a feminine version of that name.
In this case, [name]George[/name], I would say, why not [name]Georgia[/name]?
For example I really hate the [name]Maxwell[/name] trend for girls, as [name]Maxine[/name] is already a lovely name, and has the exact same nn of [name]Max[/name].

But in this case, as it’s a middle name, and a short/sweet male name that I think sounds very nice with your first names, then I see no problem with it.

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]George[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]George[/name], and [name]Lyla[/name] [name]George[/name] all sound great to me. Now that said, if you wanted to use [name]Georgia[/name] instead, I think that would sound very nice too (exception of [name]Lyla[/name] [name]Georgia[/name], don’t like the double ‘ah’ sound at the end) I think it would work to honour your grandfather as well.

**Note: [name]Just[/name] a thought though, if you have a girl first, and use the name [name]George[/name], do you think you will regret not saving it if your next child is a boy, and you are then unable to use the name [name]George[/name]?
