Gerber Baby Names

So I’m just curious to see if anyone else has been snooping the Gerber [name]Baby[/name] Contest to check out the names! If you are not familiar with it, the website is www.gerber.com/photo and you can check out the gallery of the babies and toddlers who have been entered and vote for them to be the next “Gerber [name]Star[/name]”. Anyway, being a name-lover I can’t help but notice which names go with which faces! As I expected, there is a flood of [name]Isabella[/name]'s, [name]Addison[/name]'s, [name]Gavin[/name]'s, [name]Riley[/name]'s (or as one boy was spelled- “[name]Rhylee[/name]”…no comment), not to mention a fair amount of “unique” names ([name]Nathyn[/name] Jaykob??? not exactly the name of a future president). I did come across some names that stuck out to me (both in good and bad ways) so I thought I would share some:

[name]Lourdes[/name] - appeared more than once
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name] - I’ve only seen on nameberry!
[name]Arkady[/name] (g) - ‘arcade’ much??
Zeegan - adorable girl…not-so-adorable name…
[name]Sweden[/name] (g)
[name]Augustina[/name]
Tonniel (b) - does that look like ‘toenail’ to anyone else?
[name]Quest[/name]
Leecon (b) - no idea how that is supposed to be said
Evianna/Evelyse
Pashance - the poor girl better have patience, because she’s going to be correcting people’s spelling for the rest of her life!
Handin (b)
[name]Mabel[/name]
Magdelena
and this one made me cringe: Siouxzie …yes. I believe that is intended to be the equivalent of [name]Suzie[/name]. :o My jaw fell to the ground.

Sidenote- I want to be clear that I’m not bashing any babies here. I’m all for naming your kid what you want- just thought I’d spark a little conversation! Thoughts/Comments/Opinions/Others?

most of those are def not my kind of thing - what is it with parents thinking things like Pashance are a good idea?
i have, admittedly though, always liked the name susie spelt [name]Siouxsie[/name] - like [name]Siouxsie[/name] [name]Sioux[/name] from [name]Siouxsie[/name] and the Banshees. this is maybe where those parents got it from

Oh goodness. Siouxzie?! Sigh.

Kajen, I don’t even know
Maelyn’ this letter?..
Peightyn
McElla, huh?
[name]Lucky[/name], great.

a few more to make you cringe (and maybe some that are fabulous):

Dezyre(b)
Zairik(b)
[name]Ocean/name
Tilton(b)
[name]Marquise/name
[name]CORDELIA[/name]–I am so excited to see this on a baby!
[name]Ryanne/name
And last but not least:
Jhazz(b)
Sharianjeliz(g) If someone figures out how to pronounce that one, please let me know…

T

I will be interested to see how this generation of babies turns out.

I’m constantly being astounded by the ‘creative’ names that some parents come up with. As an avid lover of timeless names I cringe at the thought of a baby named [name]Siouxsie[/name]. while some of these names are actually nice I don’t think they would help the child when they are applying to future colleges and jobs.

[name]Siouxsie[/name] and the Banshees was the first thing that came to my mind too.

I just have to add that the “search” feature for the Gerber contest is an interesting way to gage the popularity of a name within a certain demographic. 3 [name]Louisa[/name]'s, 3 [name]Louise[/name]'s, 44 [name]Alice[/name]'s, 947 [name]Ava[/name]'s!! There were 46 [name]Hazel[/name]'s which really surprised me. Other interesting figures:

560 [name]James[/name]
713 [name]Liam[/name]
1124 [name]Aiden[/name]

88 [name]Ruby[/name]
467 [name]Hailey[/name]

263 [name]Nevaeh[/name]
458 [name]Christian[/name]
410 [name]Grace[/name]

19 [name]Axel[/name]
13 [name]Stone[/name]
498 [name]Hunter[/name]

[name]Just[/name] a little food for thought!

hello i know this was along time ago but i was just looking on Facebook to see if anybody have my daughters name and i saw it in here my baby’s names is sharianjeliz and we pronounced in Spanish so the way u read it u pronounced

[name]Ah[/name]! I had never seen this thread before, but I was going to say I think the name would be pn “[name]Shar[/name]-ee-an-hel-eese,” with a Spanish inflection. It’s a very unique name; do you have a name story to go with it? (Also, am I close in my pronunciation?)
