German and Irish = can't agree!

I’m of [name]German[/name] heritage, my husband is of Irish descent. We want to honor our ancestors and give them a german or irish name… i would appreciate any suggestions anyone has! we like to think outside the box so unique is good! Thanks in advance!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Oscar[/name] ([name]Oskar[/name]) as a compromise? It has a long tradition of use in Germany and Scandinavia, in addition to its Irish roots.

[name]Leopold[/name] (nn [name]Leo[/name])
[name]Theodore[/name] (or the [name]German[/name] [name]Theodor[/name])

You can always go with an Irish first name and a [name]German[/name] middle, or a [name]German[/name] first name and an Irish middle.

Good luck!
