If I can hazard a guess-- you’re drawn to [name_f]Lux[/name_f] for both the meaning and the edgy feeling, and [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] for the crisp sounds and the sleek & powerful image. I have to agree with previous posters though-- [name_f]Lux[/name_f] is [name_m]WAY[/name_m] too ripe for teasing based on sounds alone (and looking like ‘luxe,’ which puts it in with the Chardonnays & Hennessys). And [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] is very 90s, even though it’s still very popular (top 30 in the US, not sure about the UK).
I really like [name_f]Lux[/name_f], rhymes and all, but I don’t care for [name_u]Alexis[/name_u]. [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f], [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Valentina[/name_f]?
I’ve loved the name [name_f]Lux[/name_f] ever since I saw The Virgin Suicides. I had never heard it before. [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] does seem a little dated. I like [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] the best of the suggestions so far. I also like [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Orian[/name_f]/a and [name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I don’t think something too long or too dated would fit quite right, but definitely more that one syllable!
I have an [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] and nobody calls her [name_f]Lexy[/name_f]. If you introduce her as [name_f]Lux[/name_f], that is what people will call her. I agree to give her a longer name so there are options. I love [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] it’s no longer overused and it’s a strong name for a girl.
