We are getting pretty close on our name decision (thankfully)! But there is still some trouble. Unfortunately.
We’re letting [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] go. It’s a pretty name, but decided ultimately that it’s not for us.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is getting put on the back burner — if we chose to have another baby in the future, this will probably be her name (if it’s a girl).
Now we are just stuck between [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. I’m leaning more towards [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], but I don’t know how ready I am to let go of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. The meaning is so cute (our names mixed), and I also did love the name for a while and got attached, although I think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a more beautiful name, with more room for nicknames.
As for the cat, we’re 99% sure she’ll be [name_u]Willow[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother-in-law suggested we name the cat [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], though, so now that’s brought even more of a mess.
Originally, this baby’s middle name was going to be my moms name — [name_f]Raffaella[/name_f] (or Raffa, her nickname). She hates her name and thinks we should do [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. In a way, the “el” still honors her, and she says she likes that. I just love my mom so much and always thought my second daughter’s middle name would be her actual name.
[name_m]Long[/name_m] story short: For the baby it is in between [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] Raffa, [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_f]Raffaella[/name_f], or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f].
So sorry if this is all over the place, this is what my brain looks/sounds like right now.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] sounds perfect to me
It’s elegant, pretty, full of nickname potential, it’s got your mom’s approval (and she seems to prefer it to you using her actual name, which for me, makes it more special), it gives you the cute meaning of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] + the charm of [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - and is just all round lovely
I think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is the correct choice. We have a similar situation where my husband’s mom dislikes her name and has asked that when we do have children, we instead go with my husband’s favorite girl name.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] flows well and resolves the situation and it’s beautiful. Having it as a middle will also avoid all the “Frozen” references while still allowing you to keep the name you like.
Also, a future potential for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are SO well-paired and similarly vibed while letting them be their own person.
I think the cat will survive as [name_u]Willow[/name_u] or even [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] lol
I do really love the sound of [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] for sisters! [name_f]My[/name_f] first is [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and I think they all compliment each other beautifully.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is the clear winner! It gives you both favorite names and your mom sees the honor in [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] - and it seems she would prefer [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] over her own name being used. Also agree that [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] go better together than [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and Elsa; and as a full sibset I absolutely adore [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]!
I’d say if you want the honor to your mom to be more direct, you could do [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f], but I love [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] for you!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] throwing in [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Raphia[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Rafia[/name_f] as a possibility - Raphia/Rafia is a version of [name_f]Raffaella[/name_f] and to me it flows better after [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] than Raffa and probably [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] (though I get you’re super attached to [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and it is visually pretty). I would go [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] Raphia/Raphia or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. Good luck!
