The boy name saga continues. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband doesn’t like anything. He does like the nickname Mac/Mack, as do I. The names [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] are on my list. Would any of these work with Mac/Mack as a nn?
Maxwell/Matthew [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
Maxwell/Matthew [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
Maxwell/Matthew C/K… (C or K name reco?)
Brother and sister are [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]. Husband’s favorite from my list is [name_m]Jake[/name_m] but his good friend’s son is [name_m]Jake[/name_m] (Jake and [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] were our boy names when our 2nd turned out a girl. Friend’s [name_m]Jake[/name_m] was born a few months later.) He also likes [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (Jake’s baby brother) and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (I don’t like for our family). [name_f]My[/name_f] list is pretty long with a mix of biblical and boy next door. It’s not helping….
[name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] would be an easy way to get [name_u]Mack[/name_u] because the sounds already there, not so much with [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] is pretty and sounds good, also [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (which he likes) is technically a form of [name_m]Lucas[/name_m].
Thank you! I really like the suggestion of [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], but my husband takes issue with it due to someone he knows (I swear, this is every name, and he’s not even a school teachers). I’m going to run it by him again. And I love the sound of [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], but that is my next door’s neighbor’s last name and is a very prominent name at the private school where I work (of which I have no legacy affiliation so would feel strange).
Hopefully I can finally convince him of [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] Luke??? Thanks again!
I think either [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] nn [name_u]Mack[/name_u] works very well, and I think it’d work to [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] nn [name_u]Mack[/name_u] since you get the K sound in [name_m]Luke[/name_m].
Have you considered [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]? [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] is the obvious full name to [name_u]Mack[/name_u] for me, but that’s partially because I went to high school with a boy named [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] nn [name_u]Mack[/name_u]. But I suppose Mackenzie’s become more of a girl name than a gender neutral one, and honestly I think [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] works a bit better with [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] & [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (both of which are on my lists ).
[name_f]My[/name_f] grandfathers nn was [name_u]Mack[/name_u]! His birth name was [name_u]Mackay[/name_u]! Also have a friend of mine who goes by [name_m]Mac[/name_m] and his name is Macintyre!
Thank you, everyone. We are more traditionalists when it comes to names. I am French/Italian and my husband is Jewish, so very Scottish or Irish names don’t necessarily feel right for us. But @marblemar777, [name_u]Mackay[/name_u] is a great name! Would be fun to honor him, I’m sure!
