I’ve recently developed a love affair with the nickname [name]Gigi[/name]. I feel like its cute and vintage and I know there are all kinds of options for a classic, elegant full name but I’d love help compiling a list.
So what ya got Berries? What could [name]Gigi[/name]'s first name be? I’m liking [name]Virginia[/name] since it was my grandmother’s name, but I would love to see other choices!
I love it for [name]Giselle[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name]! I know a [name]Gigi[/name] that is short for Gerturde, that might be too vintage for you but still an option.
My mom is a [name]Gigi[/name] named [name]Jeanne[/name]…could also work for [name]Janine[/name], [name]Eugenie[/name], [name]Bridget[/name], [name]Marjorie[/name], [name]Regina[/name] or [name]Virginia[/name]
As well as G names like [name]Galina[/name], [name]Gianna[/name], [name]Georgia[/name] (and variants), [name]Giselle[/name], [name]Gina[/name] & [name]Geraldine[/name].
It’s such a cute name- I love it!
We never intended to call our daughter [name]Gigi[/name], but it happened. Her name is Rejeanne (which we pronounce same as Regine since we are in the Midwest, not [name]Quebec[/name], and it’s a lucky day when we can get anything better than [name]Ray[/name] [name]Gene[/name] for a pronunciation out here :P). So, I’d have to say that any name with “jean” in it could lend itself to [name]Gigi[/name].
I definitely agree that any name starting with G is a fine source for a [name]Gigi[/name] nickname! [name]Even[/name] if it’s a hard G. Or you could pick two G names so that her initials would be G.G., and that wouldn’t be a stretch at all.
My favorites here are:
[name]Virginia[/name] (because of honoring your grandmother)
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Geneva[/name]
[name]Gillian[/name]
[name]Gianna[/name]
[name]Giada[/name]
[name]Giselle[/name]/[name]Gisela[/name]
[name]Gemma[/name]
i am an oldtimer here and went through a gigi quest 2 years ago…my gigi will be celebrate her 2nd birthday next week! anyway, to the original poster, i loved gigi and wanted to find the perfect combo to give her this fab name. my mother’s name is grace so that’ sort of where it started.
the names i deliberated most about were: [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Grace[/name], [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Grace[/name], and [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. We decided on [name]Ginger[/name] since there were also special meanings for me and ginger was my husbands absolute favorite.
anyway, we get complements all the time on gigi. and it fits her. wish i could post pics of my gigi here. maybe the only downside is that there seems to be some cougar grandmas out there that have claimed this name as a “hip” grandma name. i hate it when i introduce gigi to someone and they say “oh that’s what my son calls my mother”…ugh…
Off the beaten track but my nickname is [name]Gigi[/name] and my given name is [name]Jane[/name]. I worked for a Syrian family and one of the wives could not pronounce it. “Ja Ji Ji oh I just call you [name]Gigi[/name]” and then my aunt adopted a girl with the condition that they keep the name [name]Gianni[/name] as a first or a middle. So they call her [name]Gigi[/name] too! I love it, I think it’s a gorgeous nickname!
It could work for almost any “G” name. My family calls me [name]Gigi[/name], and my name’s [name]Georgia[/name]. I could see it working for [name]Virginia[/name]. There’s also [name]Gabriella[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Gina[/name], [name]Grace[/name].
I think any “G” name could really work. My favorite option is [name]Georgiana[/name], but [name]Georgina[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Georgette[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Giselle[/name], [name]Gabrielle[/name], [name]Gemma[/name], etc. could work, too. Or you could opt to use the initials GG, which has the sound of [name]Gigi[/name]. A former friend of mine did that, she named her daughter [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Gabrielle[/name] but they call her [name]Gigi[/name] almost exclusively.
