Girl name- any thoughts on Estera..?

Hi all,

I am wondering what you think of the name Estera? Would it be straightforward to pronounce in the UK and not confused with Esther?(which I’m not keen on, but Estera is pronounced exactly as Esther just with an „a” at the end)

Thanks

I’d say it as Eh-STEH-ruh or Eh-STAIR-uh? I think the extra syllable helps separate it from [name_f]Esther[/name_f].

It’s a pretty name

Thanks for your reply. So an intiuitive pronounciation would be different then. It’s pronounced exactly as Esther, just with an „a” at the end  so yeah Eh-steh-ruh

I think that would have probably been my guess - but I might have just asked the person or else, looked it up

[name_f]Estera[/name_f] isn’t the sort of name I’d normally go for but I can still see the appeal and beauty of it. The starry meaning is nice too.

I’m Australian, and I first guessed Eh-STAIR-ruh but my next guess was your pronunciation. It doesn’t strike me as overly difficult.

I think it wouldn’t be too confusing when read from paper but I’d anticipate some confusion with [name_f]Esther[/name_f] or other names like [name_f]Aster[/name_f] when said aloud. It being unusual as well as noise factors would contribute to that.

Making corrections I find is just part of the package deal when you choose an uncommon name though, and often corrections are required for more common names anyway.

I would pronounce it eh-STER-a, the way it’s pronounced in Polish.

Thank you. Confusion with [name_f]Aster[/name_f] got me worried now😂

I’m Polish and that’s exactly how to pronounce it  but given it’s fairly unusual even in Polish just wondering how it’d be taken in [name_f]English[/name_f]
