My husband and I finally reached some sort of consensus with the name [name]Sagan[/name], but now we are both thinking it might be too weird for a girl. I do like the meaning of it (wise one) and the association with [name]Carl[/name] [name]Sagan[/name].
However, is it too out there? I want a strong name, but not something our daughter will have to constantly correct the pronunciation of or be teased for.
I think of [name]Carl[/name] [name]Sagan[/name] and it looks like Satan. While you may admire [name]Carl[/name] [name]Sagan[/name], you child may not and I think bestowing this kind of name on a kid is kind of… a lot, and not really fair.
Well while I can understand everyone’s reservations it rhymes in my accent at least with [name]Megan[/name], [name]Teagan[/name], and [name]Regan[/name], which are fine. While I think you’d do well to find another first name, I kind of like [name]Sagan[/name] in the middle position.
If honoring [name]Carl[/name] [name]Sagan[/name] is very important to you, I’d suggest [name]Carla[/name] or [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name]. I’d probably pick a different middle then though. I’d DEFINITELY pick a different middle if you went with [name]Carla[/name] : D. Although [name]Carla[/name] [name]Sage[/name] would be cool and more subtle.
Can’t say I’m a fan. It doesn’t sound feminine to me at all. [name]Both[/name] [name]Sage[/name] and [name]Teagan[/name] are much prettier. If you’re really wanting to honor [name]Carl[/name] [name]Sagan[/name], [name]Carla[/name] would be a much better choice for a little girl.
Sorry, I don’t like it either. There are a lot of strong names for girls to choose from that would grow well with a daughter.
I would consider choosing a classic name because most of them won’t be misspelled or mispronounced and they are becoming more unique now in the sea of all the trendy names. To me classic names are strong because there are so many strong namesakes with those names. They may not work for you though.
Reminds me of the French author francoise sagan who wrote bonjour tristesse. Having said that, I don’t think its perhaps the most appealing name…I like the suggestion of [name]Sage[/name]
My friend and I both like this name. She likes it because of [name]Carl[/name] [name]Sagan[/name] and I because the sound. We both pronounce it [name]SAY[/name]-gan the a in gan like the a in hand. The movie World War Z features a woman with this name. It’s never said if it’s her first or last name though. If this name is strongly THE name, then go for it. The familiarity of [name]Carl[/name] [name]Sagan[/name] will help it not sound extremely out there. It follows the n trend and soft S trends too.
