This seems to be a good time to post a legit new thread, so I’ll post something I’ve been thinking about awhile. I have two children, Seth Andrew and Madeline Frances Treat (Treat was my maiden). If we ever have another girl, here are some names I’ve been thinking of. I want to know (1) which name do you prefer, and (2) which do you think goes better in the sibset. This would for sure be our last child, so no need to save a name or anything.
Tessa- just love the name, would do a family name in the mn
Susanna- some family connections with Susan, and both our moms’ mns have Ann in them
Rosemary-my lovely aunt
Katherine- my mom is Karen, which is a Danish form of Katherine; I like Karen too for a mn, but I love Katherine…maybe in the middle spot tho?
Elizabeth- love this but not sure if I would actually use it a a fn. it’s my sister’s mn too.
Annabeth- honors both our moms and my sister
Other names I like and/or might use in the middle: Emma, Sara (my name), Allison (my mn), Lauren (my sis’s name), Olivia
Thanks Berries!
Sorry I just realized I didn’t finish my thread title and I don’t think I can fix it now. :s
The two that immediately caught my attention are [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Rosemary[/name]. I think they are both classic, feminine names that go well with [name]Seth[/name] and [name]Madeline[/name]. Plus, I love the nickname potential for both; I’ve always liked [name]Lizzie[/name] and [name]Rosie[/name] as nns.
Of those two names, I think my favorite is [name]Rosemary[/name], simply because it is a bit less common. I think [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] sounds beautiful.
Thank you!
Dantea, the reason I want to spell it [name]Katherine[/name] is bc it’s honoring my mom, [name]Karen[/name], so I feel like I get closer to it with the K form. Otherwise I think I might prefer it with a C too. I notice you’re in AR; me too.
With [name]Elizabeth[/name], I would prob use the full name mostly, but I love [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Lizzie[/name], and sort of [name]Betsy[/name] for nns.
Same with [name]Rosemary[/name], but I love [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Rosie[/name] too. For [name]Katherine[/name], I like [name]Kate[/name] as a nn, and even [name]Katie[/name], but again, I prefer to mostly use the full name.
If I want to do a double mn with [name]Rosemary[/name], is that too long? My dd has a double mn ([name]Madeline[/name] [name]Frances[/name] [name]Treat[/name]) and our ln is only one syllable. What if I did [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Anne[/name]? Too long? I really want to honor my mom if we have another, and I think I’m going to have to include [name]Anne[/name] somewhere to honor DH’s mom too.
I like [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]. I think [name]Tessa[/name] would go best with your set also, the others are a good bit more classic/traditional than [name]Madeline[/name], and even [name]Seth[/name] to an extent.
[name]Tessa[/name]- I adore this one! [name]Just[/name] found out that [name]Esther[/name] can be used as a long name with [name]Tess[/name] as a nn, blew my mind.
[name]Katherine[/name]- very pretty
[name]Elizabeth[/name]- this has been the top of my list for a long time, would make a great middle
[name]Susanna[/name]- meh, not bad
[name]Rosemary[/name]-meh, nice middle
Annabeth- I like it as a middle, not as a first
[name]Olivia[/name] - in my top 5, it’s just so lovely, but also uber popular.
Thank you! As much as I love [name]Rosemary[/name], I’m not sure if I can use it. We gave our dd my maternal gma’s name as a mn, and I feel like I really need to use a name to honor my mom if we have another girl. [name]Rosemary[/name] is my mom’s sister, my fav aunt, and it wouldn’t really be “after” her but there’s no avoiding the association. I’m afraid my mom might feel like, “ok she named the first dd after my mom, and now the second after my sister, what about me?” plus I’m very close to my mom so I would love to honor her in some way. I actually quite like [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Karen[/name] [name]Anne[/name], and that way I get my mom’s name ([name]Karen[/name]) in there plus honor DH’s mom with [name]Anne[/name]. Or I could do [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Anne[/name], but that might be getting a bit long.
I think it would probably be best to avoid [name]Rosemary[/name] then. I completely get where your coming from. I, as well, wanted to use my aunts name but quickly realized that my mother would be very hurt if I did.
