Girl names like Beatrix

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] has always been my number 1 girls name. I am due in Oct with my first, a girl, and my partner likes the name enough that we could use it. I told him not to tell people what we are using because in the general public I’ve found that [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] gets an instant negative reaction from people. I hate this, and knew it would affect how he felt about the name. He can’t help himself and has shared the name with whoever asks, and has had a lot of negative feedback.

I don’t know why it always gets such negativity. I adore this name, it’s strong, quirky and means bringer of happiness.

He now wants to go with one of our other two choices [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Both of which I love, but are rather common here. Being one of 12 [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]'s in my grade at school, I don’t want a common name for my baby.

I need new, fresh suggestions for similar style names please.
Also, your opinion on [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]?

I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is sweet, fun and a bit futuristic. Some similar names are [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Petra[/name_f].

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

You should keep [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! If Mom & Dad love it, that’s all that matters. Plus, it’s a fantastic name. All of those things you said. [name_u]Strong[/name_u], quirky, & has a beautiful meaning. Plus, it’s simple & well know yet very unique. Really not much else to ask for. People may say that they don’t like the name, but once they see it attached to your sweet little baby I’m sure that they’ll come to love it.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I have a [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and I was slightly worried about others’ reactions too. But actually, we have received compliments about her name! Surprised looks for sure, but people love it and use the name in full when talking to her. It suits her happy, spunky personality. We also call her [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_f]Bebe[/name_f]/B.B. If you both love it, I recommend going for it! I am happy to see/hear it every single time.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are both sweet too!

When I tell people I named her [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], they immediately get excited to talk about other names too. It’s a name that tells other people you are a name nerd hah. Others have mentioned their love of [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] when I say [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. Bea was almost a Winifred nn Winnie.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is such a sweet name and if you two love it that’s all that should really matter! However, I think some other similar names you may like are [name_f]Amabel[/name_f], [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] or [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]!

I’m sure whichever name you and your partner choose will suit your baby girl perfectly! Good luck

Oh, I adore [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! I don’t understand negative reactions to it either. It’s such a spunky, charming name – absolutely adorable and one of my own top choices.

I really do agree with this:

But, if your partner is hesitant and just can’t stick with it, that’s understandable. ([name_m]Just[/name_m] be sure he’s not giving it up for any reason other than not being in love with it, of course.)

Names with similar, old-fashioned spunk:
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_u]Vivien[/name_u]…

I like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] nn [name_f]Trixie[/name_f]! I think you should definitely have a sit down with your partner and tell him how set you are on the name. I’m sure hes just a bit paranoid after hearing some negative comments. But once the baby arrives, no one ever mentions their opinions about the name (at least not in person).

That being said… similar names:

I think beatrix is fun and sweet, night-like, but spunky cause of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] who I love. I absolutely adore the x ending!!

Ya know, beatrix [name_f]October[/name_f] sounds stunning!

Bellamy, [name_f]Bexley[/name_f], [name_f]Trixie[/name_f], and Bellatrice are similar in looks or sound.

Enjoy!

Are you from Australia? I am too and I had to give up [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] as an option for my daughter because of how popular it is. It’s now #12 on the national list for 2019! I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as well but yes, it’s also quite popular.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] has grown on me a lot lately and now I’d say I love it. It’s so unusual and spunky with the x ending, and has such a vintage, literary vibe. I think you should ignore people’s reactions. I find people tend to respond unfavourably to things that aren’t familiar to them; I don’t think it’s necessarily a reflection on the name itself. I’ve met a little [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] lately and she pulled it off so well!

The first name that popped into mind for you is [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. It’s vintage, it’s uncommon, it’s got spunk. In fact, I can imagine sisters named [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

Some other ideas:

[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Bronte[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]

[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Frieda[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
Anouk

I think you should stick with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. If you don’t though, both [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are beautiful.

Oh, I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! I’ll be honest, I’m not the most adventurous namer, and I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is totally usable/wearable. It’s distinctive but familiar and traditional, it has such a great meaning, and it’s just plain fun to say. I can picture it on any age. Plus nicknames [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] are so cute!

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] were my first thoughts! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] also come to mind!

Beatrix is such a fun, whimsical, happy name imo. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] give me a similar vibe. I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f], it’s one of my favourite names, but it doesn’t give me the same feeling. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], it’s such a sweet name. If you can get him on board, I would go for it.
