I have been drawn to that sort of name as of lately, and was wondering if you all could help me brainstorm some more. A few that I have already considered are:
Any other ones you can come up with? I’d prefer less common if possible, so something along the lines of [name]Charlotte[/name] “[name]Charlie[/name]” or [name]Alexia[/name] “[name]Alex[/name]” aren’t quite right for me.
My favorite is one that’s already in your signature: [name]Eleni[/name] nn [name]Leni[/name]! I adore it. [name]Lenny[/name] on a boy seems frumpy and old fashioned and makes me think of the [name]John[/name] Steinbeck novel, but [name]Leni[/name] on a girl is lithe and youthful and interesting. And I don’t feel so bad about more masculine-ish nns on a girl as opposed to an actual full name that’s unisex/masculine. That’s really the only one I love, although I don’t mind [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] (although I prefer [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Lottie[/name], personally). I think [name]Evangeline[/name] nn [name]Evan[/name] is sort of cool, too.
[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name]? Or is that too mainstream, too?
[name]Cornelia[/name] could be [name]Cory[/name]/[name]Cori[/name] and I prefer it to [name]Neil[/name]. [name]Juniper[/name] could be [name]Perry[/name]/[name]Peri[/name].
ashthedreamer: I like [name]Leni[/name] with [name]Eleni[/name] too. I think that’s why I like the name so much in general, haha. [name]Evangeline[/name]'s too religious for me, but I do like [name]Evanna[/name]/[name]Evadne[/name] “[name]Evan[/name]”. [name]Aurora[/name] isn’t too mainstream (geez, I sound like the worst hipster) but it’s not personally a name I like.
scarletrune: I like [name]Neil[/name] slightly more for [name]Cornelia[/name], but [name]Cori[/name] is a nice nickname too. Besides, I love [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Corinne[/name]! Your other suggestions are nice as well. My favorites would be [name]Andromeda[/name], [name]Wilhelmina[/name], and [name]Philippa[/name].
cj85: Thanks! I like [name]Francesca[/name] but my darned cousin has used [name]Francisco[/name] for her second son. Loving [name]Martina[/name], [name]Olympia[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], and [name]Philomene[/name].
ruefossette: That is neat, and quite creative to boot. I never would have come up with [name]Lars[/name] on my own.
I think [name]Martie[/name] / [name]Marty[/name] / [name]Marti[/name] is super cute. It would work for [name]Martina[/name] (love), [name]Martene[/name]/[name]Martine[/name], [name]Martha[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Martelle[/name], etc.
[name]Philomene[/name]/Filomene is one of my favorites. (I think [name]Philomena[/name]/[name]Filomena[/name] is too much).
[name]Timothea[/name] with “[name]Timmie[/name]” as a nickname, I think it’s cute that way. If the child wants the nickname or the more feminine sounding name they will have that option. This is one of my favorite names!!!
