Girl version of Geoffrey?

I’ve been searching the internet without any luck!

Does anyone know of any girl versions of the name [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m]? Not necessarily sounding the same but an alternate version of the name or a name with the same meaning?

Not sure, but what about [name_f]Freya[/name_f]?

I have a similar situation, it is a family name. Some suggestions:

[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_m]Frey[/name_m]
[name_f]Effie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f]

You could also do a name related to ‘[name_u]Peace[/name_u]’ such as [name_u]Dove[/name_u].

Maybe [name_f]Gennifer[/name_f]?

Thank you! I will definitely do a search for girls names that mean ‘peace’ in case that brings up anything!

We were hoping to find a name that we don’t have to explain (as the name itself will be an obvious reference to [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m]) but I dont feel like this is possible!
Unfortunately neither of us like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] so thats out .

Some names meaning peace
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Irina[/name_f]
[name_f]Serenity[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Frida[/name_f]

Some other names that look/sound similar
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_u]Jorey[/name_u]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Fia[/name_f]
[name_f]Josefine[/name_f]

Google tells me there is a mismash name from the 70’s that is Jeffyne (jeff-in-ee).
There are also name girls names that start with ‘[name_m]Geo[/name_m]’ that could work, but they sound qhkte different.
You could also use the ‘frey’ name ending, so it would rhyme.

Why not find a name that either has the same meaning or uses the same initial in honor? I don’t think there are any variants of [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] that will be likable.

What sort of girls names do you typically like? You could do something like [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]

I have heard someone named jefrada I’m not entirely sure how it’s spelled, but it was pronounced “geoff-frey-da”

I also want to suggest [name_f]Frieda[/name_f] if that hasn’t been suggested yet

I have heard someone named jefrada I’m not entirely sure how it’s spelled, but it was pronounced “geoff-frey-da”

I also want to suggest [name_f]Frieda[/name_f] if that hasn’t been suggested yet which also means peace and is a bit similar

What about names beginning with [name_m]Geo[/name_m]? Like [name_m]George[/name_m]-derivatives. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Georgette[/name_f]. ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f] makes a cute nickname for these!)

[name_f]Geovana[/name_f] also looks quite similar to [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m].

Edited to add: this is a little different from what you’re asking, but what about a name like [name_f]Honor[/name_f]/[name_f]Honora[/name_f]/Honoree? To indicate that you’re honoring someone, without having to use his name?

You could even do something unusual like using [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m], just as it is, for a middle name. [name_f]Honora[/name_f] [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m], for example, to denote the fact that you’re honoring a [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] in your life. It’s pretty common in [name_m]French[/name_m] to have second names that are opposite-gendered (i.e. [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] is a common man’s name, just as [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_m]Jacques[/name_m] wouldn’t be strange on a woman). If it bothers you, you could do something like [name_f]Honora[/name_f] Geoffra. Geoffra isn’t the most beautiful middle name, but it gets the name in there and it makes it feminine.

My vote is for [name_f]Geovana[/name_f], or for [name_f]Honora[/name_f] [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m].

[name_f]Paloma[/name_f] & [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] both mean dove, which stands for peace…

According to Behind the Name, the second half of [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] stems from “frid,” which means peace. The first half of the name has been suggested to mean territory, foreign, or hostage. Some forms of [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] that (at least to me) looks feminine are an Irish form, Séafra, & a Welsh form, [name_m]Sieffre[/name_m].

I like the idea of [name_f]Frida[/name_f] / [name_f]Freda[/name_f]! In some languages (like Portuguese) [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] is translated to [name_m]Godofredo[/name_m] with [name_m]Fredo[/name_m] as a nickname.
Suggestions:
[name_u]Rey[/name_u] - too [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars?
[name_f]Gia[/name_f]
Gwenfair
I love surnames as middles, so I’m in favor of using [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m], which has some surnamey qualities, as a middle name. Or maybe [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - which is related to [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] and so regal!

Thank you all! I have some wonderful suggestions to run by hubby!

[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] seems to have a pretty complicated etymology (origin) - the sites that are generally pretty reliable about these things say a whole bunch of names all ended up merging into ‘[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m]’.
Some of the original name elements that ended up leading to the name [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] are Frid (‘peace’), Gisil (‘pledge/hostage’), God (‘god’), and ‘Walha’ (‘foreigner/stranger/slave/Celt’).

Some girls’ names that come from/include those same name elements:

Frid: [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Frieda[/name_f], [name_f]Fenna[/name_f], [name_f]Federica[/name_f]/[name_f]Frederica[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
Gisil: [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Gisela[/name_f]
God: [name_f]Godiva[/name_f], Godelieve/Godeliva

If you don’t mind a traditionally male name on a girl (one that, depending where you live, most people might not recognise as a male name), and if you feel comfortable using names from [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m], there are some forms of [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] in other languages that would probably seem feminine outside the UK: Séafra or Siothrún (Irish. Pronunciation is here: Séafra pronunciation: How to pronounce Séafra in Irish and Siothrún pronunciation: How to pronounce Siothrún in Irish. click on the blue triangle to play), or Sieffre pronunciation: How to pronounce Sieffre in Welsh.

Not sure if you’re a nickname person, but what about [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] as a short form for pretty much any G name? It’s not intuitive as an honour, but it has the same beginning and ending as [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] so would be easy for people to get once you point it out. (As opposed to something like, [name_f]Lena[/name_f] for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] where the letters are “scrambled”.)
