Girls name advice - please help!

Desperate for help deciding between the following names for my baby girl.

She currently has grey blue eyes and will probably have golden blonde hair. She’s a determined and charismatic little soul. She has a double last name Frayyse Fox.

I just can’t land on one as they all have strengths and weaknesses. Please help! I love names that sound lovely to the ear, that are flexible for familial environments as well in a professional setting. A name that we will love saying over and over again. Please cast your vote and give any advice that you can as I’m running out of time!!

Options;

Juliette nn Jules, Juju within family
Olivia nn Oli, Vivi within family
Summer nn Sum, Sunny within family
Lila (Lye-lah) nn Lila, Liles or Lilly within family
Naomi nn Mimi

Thank you!

Bg congrats on your beautiful daughter! :sparkles:

I like Olivia the best. I found it a little hard to get from the V of Olivia to the F-F last name on first go - but I like higher syllable count and an A ending name with your last name, and it’s a name for someone getting things done. Oli F-F gives casual and very cool - while Olivia (Livvy, Vivi etc), super strong and feminine.

I also like Naomi a lot. It’s both cute & bookish smart, and works for different contexts and ages. I also like the French Noemi - and often find it easier to say, but maybe it’s too fast paced for F-F, I like that Naomi gives you time to get ready for FF. Mimi (Mee-Mee) is very cool with F-F. My only reservation with Naomi is that I sometimes don’t quite nail the start of this name but if you do, ignore!

Next would be the romantic and friendly Juliette. Take or leave, but I would spell Juliette, the more tailored Juliet. Also out of scope, I’m also thinking Julia could be good as a mix of Juliette, Olivia and Lila - and because Julia is a very easy flow to F-F - easier than Juliette imo where you have to go from a full stop T to an F. You could still use Jules, Juju and also Lia, Lily, Lilla etc. Julia is timeless to me.

Summer F-F flows well but sounds a little like it could be a dish at a restaurant (sorry if that comes across harshly over internet). Lila, I think, gets overpowered by the last name - I swallow it a little when I say it - but like Naomi it does have a lovely slower pace which is nice for a double barrelled second. I think Lilia would possibly work better and it’s like Lila and Olivia.

Hope that helps! :sparkles:

You’ve got some lovely names!

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is beautiful - elegant but with spark too!

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is nice enough. A solid, safe choice but very popular

[name_f]Summer[/name_f] is warm, smart and pretty! I think [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] would make a better, more unusable nickname than Sum though. Could she be something like Susu, [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f], [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], [name_f]Susi[/name_f] or [name_f]Merry[/name_f] with family?

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is sharp and bright, stylish but sweet

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is sweet but solid with a lovely meaning! [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] is cute!

I think [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is my favourite over all

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] or [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] would be great,

I really love the way you think and you’ve articulated hunches that I have had but with far more precision and eloquence! I have loved delving into the world of naming. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you happen to have any suggestions on names not listed that could work well?

I think I’m stumbling in general because the names that I wanted, I can’t use (Georgia or Isabella), and baby’s Dad is stuck on [name_f]Summer[/name_f], which I have hesitations about - esp with the last name [name_f]Fox[/name_f]!

Thank you so much for your time.

Half joking but fathers always love Summer (and Laura, Charlie, Aurora & Samantha).

Anyway, I wouldn’t do Summer, it’s too wordy and a non trivial risk of teasing/being annoying potential re her being a summer v winter fox etc.

Some other possibilities:

Tabitha (nn Tibby )
Diana (so glam with FF)
Amelie (so pretty with F-F)
Claudia (going places!)
Cynthia (I know, but it does flow, and Cyn/Thia is cute!)
Jemima (if culturally OK, would flow do well and nn options galore, Mimie, Mimi, Jem etc)
Arabella (too close to Isabella?)
Gemma
Natalie
Anna
Lydia
Susanna(h) (nn Sunny, Suki)
Saskia
Helena /Helen
Marianne
Caroline (don’t love the name myself but def works!)
Clementine
Sidonie
Lucinda (old school but gives nn Lulu and Indie and flows to F-F so well!)
Romilly (nn Romy)
Soraya

Just to check, is Frayyse, like “Phrase” (ie one syllable)?

Welcome to the Nameberry community!

I’d like to suggest Noemi for you. It is much like Naomi but I love the international flair, as Juliet has. I know a little girl named Noemi and it suits her beautifully and is easy to pronounce but does move her away from the mainstream line of names. You still get Mimi as a nickname if you wish. My favourites from your list are Lila and Juliet. All the best!

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is my personal favorite on your list and fits your description of her quite well but [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is adorable so either of those would get my vote.

I think [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] or [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] would work really well for what you’re describing! I could see them used for a child, but I could also see them working as an adult. They have cute nickname ideas too.

I vote for [name_f]Summer[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sunny[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] baby boy is called [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] and his name makes me so happy when I say it

Thank you so much again.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Milly[/name_f] and [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] (nn Sass ?) from your list!

Yes it’s pronounced similar to ‘phrase’ but with a rolling r and hard long s. It’s baby’s Dad’s last name - he’s [name_f]French[/name_f].
I’ve floated many charming [name_f]French[/name_f] names like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], that he’s turned down due to his ‘boomer’ associations lol

I secretly quite like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] for the gorge nn [name_f]Pia[/name_f] but it may set her up for too high expectations within her sporting endeavours! Also quite like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] but I’m not sure how that would be received in a professional setting…and am not keen on Marigold… tricky!

[name_f]Noemi[/name_f] is adorable. Baby’s Dad is [name_f]French[/name_f] so it would make sense too! Is it pronounced No-Ee-me?

It is such a joyous name!

[name_f]My[/name_f] friend pronounces it no-EM-ee if that makes sense. It may depend on where you live though. It’s a gorgeous name.

I vote for [name_f]Lila[/name_f]!
(But [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] “Vivi” is also great. I love [name_f]Vivi[/name_f], I can’t believe I never thought of that.)

You have a lot of great choices. I wouldn’t do [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] because initials spell OFF and I would steer away from that. I love [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. It sounds spunky, strong, and very becoming with the last name.

Huge congratulations :tada:

Your daughter sounds beyond beautiful and I hope you’re adjusting to motherhood.

Finding a name is really challenging! I found the whole naming process is so difficult and it’s understandable why you are also struggling. It’s such a huge decision!

Looking at your list my thoughts are

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is such a beautiful name. She’s packed full of romance, elegance and has a naturally summery disposition. For me [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is Parisian summers, cherry blossom trees and getting lost in a book whilst drinking coffee in the sunshine. I prefer the more streamlined [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] but they are both pretty. I also think she works with her surname.

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] I know is a popular choice loved by many but personally I’m not a huge fan of this name I find how the O rolls into the via just a bit off. I prefer [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or [name_f]Livia[/name_f].

[name_f]Summer[/name_f] is so carefree, spirited, warm and relaxed. [name_f]Summer[/name_f] is such a lovely choice and I adore the nickname choice of [name_f]Sunny[/name_f]. [name_f]Summer[/name_f] does feel a little descriptive with the surname F0x which is the downside.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] again has that carefree, warm and fun sound. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] provides such fun imagery for me of downtown jazz bar, saxophones, brightly coloured sparkly jumpsuits and Afro hair. I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] provides such fun imagery!

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] oozes peace and tranquility which is helped by her meaning. She’s so beautiful, timeless and unexpected. [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has great biblical ties and I love the nickname [name_f]Mimi[/name_f]. I also think she sounds great with your surname.

[name_f]My[/name_f] top two are [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] + [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] :ballet_shoes:

Wishing you all the best with your new addition!

yes! i was thinking it would be ok with a middle name initial though, but great spotting!
