Girls name list...alternatives to Molly?

[name]Hi[/name] everyone,

This is my first post here. We just found out that we are having a GIRL! I am a bit stunned, I have two sons, [name]Joey[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name] ([name]Danny[/name]). We had two favorite boys names [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Tyler[/name] but a girl? I am a bit stumped.

With my boys I picked fairly traditional names that were flexible. I wanted names that they could adapt over time. I would love something similar for a girl, but I am not fond of [name]Elizabeth[/name] (although I love the nn [name]Lizzy[/name]). I would also love for it to have a Y in the name or nick name.

Here is my list so far…any favorites? I love [name]Molly[/name], but I am worried because its not flexible and it is supposed a top name for dogs!

Any Thoughts?

I like [name]Maya[/name], [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Lila[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], Madeyn, [name]Jillian[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Amy[/name], and [name]Leah[/name] best. My absolute favorite is [name]Madelyn[/name]! Good luck!

I love [name]Mallory[/name] and [name]Lyra[/name] from your list. [name]Rori[/name]/y can be a nn for [name]Mallory[/name], or [name]Lorelei[/name] if you like that name.

For [name]Molly[/name], you can do with: [name]Mary[/name], [name]Martha[/name], [name]Mallory[/name], [name]Marilyn[/name], [name]Maren[/name] - basically whatever M name you like.

[name]Love[/name] your style!
There are heaps there I love ([name]Rory[/name]-spelt with a y and just as is on my list, [name]Mira[/name] but spelt like this is on my list-Also love [name]Mirabel[/name]).
[name]Just[/name] to throw some others that may be similar into the loop:
I lovvvve [name]Milena[/name] (nn [name]Millie[/name]-or just [name]Millie[/name])
[name]Leila[/name]
[name]Libby[/name]
[name]Abby[/name] ([name]Abigail[/name])

I just love [name]Molly[/name]! I like it partly because you can’t make a nickname out of it.

For alternatives, my very favorite from your list is [name]Lucy[/name]. It is just as sweet and cute as [name]Molly[/name].

You can also get [name]Rori[/name] from [name]Aurora[/name], if you’d like a more flowing, graceful type full name

I like [name]Molly[/name] a lot, actually. I think [name]Joey[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], and [name]Molly[/name] are really cute together. Maybe you could do [name]Mary[/name] nn [name]Molly[/name]? Or [name]Amalia[/name] nn [name]Molly[/name]? She could have more options that way…

I love [name]Maya[/name], [name]Lila[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Jillian[/name], [name]Mallory[/name], and [name]Tessa[/name] from your list as a little sister to [name]Joey[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name]/[name]Danny[/name].

I think [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] are my favorites.

Good luck!

[name]Aurora[/name] was actually on my first list. I am a HUGE sleeping Beauty fan but my hubby isn’t fond of it.

I hadn’t thought of [name]Rori[/name]/[name]Mallory[/name] but your right and that is an awesome thought!

[name]Leila[/name] was on one of my lists too. And [name]Libby[/name] is awesome too.

I have a 3 yo [name]Jillian[/name] and whenever we ask her what we should name her baby brother she keeps saying [name]Molly[/name]!!! I have always loved [name]Molly[/name] as well, but we have a cousin with a dog [name]Molly[/name] so it was out for us! I love so many names on your list! I think [name]Lucy[/name] has a similar happy and friendly vibe like [name]Molly[/name]. We considered [name]Charlotte[/name] as well for our [name]Jillian[/name], but it has become much more popular by us since and I’m so happy we went with [name]Jillian[/name]. I think [name]Eliza[/name] has a similar feel as [name]Molly[/name].

Is [name]Joey[/name] short for [name]Joseph[/name]? Or just [name]Joey[/name]…? [name]Just[/name] curious. It doesn’t really affect my opinion, but you never know if it helps somebody else.

I like [name]Lucy[/name] best with [name]Joey[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name]. [name]Lucy[/name] is an honest to goodness full name by itself (like [name]Daniel[/name]) with a nn like feel (like [name]Joey[/name]) partially because it’s used as a nn for names like [name]Lucille[/name], [name]Lucinda[/name], etc. If that makes ANY sense…it’s late, forgive me. :stuck_out_tongue:

With [name]Joey[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name], I like [name]Maya[/name], [name]Rori[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], and [name]Tessa[/name]. I think any of those names would grow well with your child and sound great with her brothers’ names.

I love [name]Molly[/name]! My 20yr old daughter is named [name]Mollie[/name]. She is smart and pretty, and I think her name really suits her. I’ve never regretted the choice, even when someone says, “that’s my puppy’s name!” [name]Mollie[/name] loves her name, even the “ie” spelling. There aren’t really any nicknames for it, but that’s one of the things I love about it. I grew up with a nickname, and I hated it. I never wanted any of my kids to have to always explain, “my name is _________, but I go by _______.”

[name]Molly[/name] was our second-place name for our daughter [name]Rory[/name]. Two things I will say: I’m glad we chose [name]Rory[/name] over [name]Molly[/name], as it feels like a more modern, spirited name. But if I had to do it over again, especially since I went on to have two boys AFTER [name]Rory[/name] and not another daughter, I’d choose something more decidedly feminine. And yes, can’t figure out why [name]Molly[/name] along with [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Max[/name] are such big dog names!

So from your list I like [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name]… I like [name]Molly[/name] too but I do think it’s past its peak.

My aunt has a dog named [name]Molly[/name]…so you are right it’s a dogs name but so is [name]Maggie[/name]…which I love too…

I agree with [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Lorelie[/name] being a cute real name for [name]Rory[/name]…
[name]Mallory[/name] is cute too…but in my opinion it’s a little meh.

[name]Lyra[/name] is cute…
but as far as your other kids go I think [name]Tyler[/name] is still super cute for a girl…I mean if you like it - or even
[name]Benni[/name] for a girl…I know a girl with that name and it’s adorable…

[QUOTE=ness90;1390347]Is [name]Joey[/name] short for [name]Joseph[/name]? Or just [name]Joey[/name]…? [name]Just[/name] curious. It doesn’t really affect my opinion, but you never know if it helps somebody else.

[name]Joey[/name] is short for [name]Joseph[/name]. But man, my kid is funny…if you call him something other than [name]Joey[/name] he won’t have it. He makes all of his teachers change his name place card to [name]Joey[/name]. He insists that his name is [name]Joey[/name] and that is it. [name]Daniel[/name] is more flexible. He will go by [name]Dan[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], or [name]Danny[/name]. I kind of like that about those kind of names, it lets the kid’s personality shine through.

Ok sorry but molly isnt a dog name. Also people give their dogs human names all the time. Namea are names, who carea if theyre used for animals or not? My mom had a bird before and named it harley. I had a dog and his name was dakota. So what? Whats the big deal? People give humans “dog” names too like humpfrey and shiloh. It doesnt matter. Name her molly, i love that name so much, its pretty and simple!

(Sorry for bumping this i didnt see it was from 2012 until after i posted)

[name_f]Adore[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

[name_u]Rory[/name_u] could be a trendy nn for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Much cuter than [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].

[name_f]Molly[/name_f] is very sweet and somewhat unique. You don’t here it often these days. If you love it, use it. You can always create a nickname, or make it from her middle name.

I’ve know two very female human Mollys. I would love it if you used [name_f]Polly[/name_f] or [name_u]Talley[/name_u]/[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] if you decide against [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. Also classic doesn’t have to be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]/[name_f]Hana[/name_f]
[name_u]Allison[/name_u]
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]
[name_f]Macy[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]/[name_f]Alena[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Brielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Darla[/name_f] (it’s not awfully traditional but I’d love if you used it)
