Girls Names After Strong Women

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

Looking for some girls names after strong women in history, either historical figures or feminist figures. Some examples would be [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (after [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] of [name_f]Aquitaine[/name_f]), [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (after [name_f]Empress[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]) or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_m]Butler[/name_m]).

Open to any kind of name - vintage, or more modern and quirky. Also names that mean strong, independent, anything like that. Particularly interested in badass historical women though!

TIA!

I don’t know if your counting biblical names but just in case:
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] - for [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] in the story of Purim

Otherwise
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - [name_f]Earhart[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - a ton, but I was thinking [name_f]Cady[/name_f] [name_m]Stanton[/name_m]
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]/[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] - [name_f]Susan[/name_f] B. [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]
[name_f]Aretha[/name_f]/[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - [name_f]Aretha[/name_f] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] - specifically thinking [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], but there are probably others
[name_f]Bronte[/name_f] - same as above
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]/[name_f]Angelou[/name_f] - [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Angelou[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] - Plath
[name_u]Temple[/name_u] - Grandin
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - can’t really think of any namesakes rn, but it means wisdom and I find that to be a strength
Beren - means strong and smart
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] - means strong
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]/[name_f]Hestia[/name_f]/[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] - all goddesses in Greek mythology. [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] was considered the patron(patroness?) of unmarried women, [name_f]Hestia[/name_f] protects the hearth or home, and in some versions of the original myths [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] went into the underworld willingly. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] also counts for this but if you’re looking purely at namesakes I’d stay away from [name_u]Demeter[/name_u], [name_f]Hera[/name_f]/[name_f]Juno[/name_f], etc. (also realized that idk if you would count those as historical figures but they’re good namesakes anyway).
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], was one of the scientists that discovered DNA.

I’ll probably think of more later, but this is all I have for now!

It’s a love it or hate it kind of name, but [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] - after the [name_f]Empress[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f], is a good one.
She was described as “An early feminist, she was pushing for female education and advocating the recognition of women’s achievements in literature, arts, and education. That her efforts were largely unsuccessful was the fault of the society she lived in. The reforms she championed came too early”. I think it’d make a good middle name.
