My fiancé and are are currently TTC and thinking baby names for future daughters.
He would love to name a baby after his grandfather, [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. Neither one of us likes the name [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or any other B names for a boy, so we are looking at girl’s names.
Our style is classic - [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are all choices we love for girls.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would be an obvious pick, but neither one of us cares for it very much.
Would love some suggestions of other B names or names with a meaning similar to [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m].
I think [name_m]Benji[/name_m] is so cute as a girl’s name, but it’s definitely not classic like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! However, [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] in the bible was the son of [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], which is fairly classic.
With a twist on [name_f]Benjamina[/name_f], as someone mentioned, is [name_f]Mina[/name_f]. There’s Benette, [name_f]Benita[/name_f], and [name_f]Benna[/name_f] and Benne (beh-nay).
Any other honors are just a little too far removed from [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] for me, so perhaps you could find another way to honor him–like his middle name, birth stone, flower, month, etc.
I really like the suggestions of [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] and [name_f]Mina[/name_f]. What about [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], taken from the “jamin” part of the name?
So you’re looking for any B names that fit your style rather than something based directly on [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]? Hmmm…
I do love [name_f]Benna[/name_f], [name_f]Benjamina[/name_f], and Benae/Benne as names in their own right. Here are some more:
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Benedetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Beryl[/name_f]
[name_f]Beth[/name_f]- I think this one is my favorite. Classic, simple, sweet, and not currently popular.
[name_f]Bess[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethel[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Brenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Barbara[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Brigitta[/name_f]
[name_f]Belinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f]
[name_f]Bettina[/name_f]
[name_f]Becca[/name_f]
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Benilde[/name_f]
[name_f]Benicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Brina[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f]
I see what you mean, there aren’t that many really classic B names, these ones are more out there if none of the familiar ones are working for you.
