Give Me a Criteria, I’ll Give You a Name! (New Baby Name Book!)

Fun (The type of book that I would love to have is this)! [name_f]My[/name_f] criteria:

[name_f][/name_f]

No more than 8 letters
[name_f][/name_f]Cottage-core
[name_f][/name_f]Literary

This was harder than I expected; half the names meaning “peace” I know of, the book listed a different meaning or the name wasn’t there! [name_f][/name_f] :joy:

[name_f][/name_f]

But your name is [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f][name_f][/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] Meaning from the forest[name_f][/name_f] and the spiritual connotation is dwelling in spirit[name_f][/name_f]. (The meaning of peace feels implied here, at least for me :joy::joy:)

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]Your Bible verse[name_f][/name_f]

“The [name_m]Lord[/name_m] will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O [name_m]Lord[/name_m], endures forever. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Do[/name_f] not forsake the work of Your hands.” [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 138:8

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

I didn’t notice any of the verses you mentioned, but if I do I’ll come back and share!

Ahh thank you! I love the name, the meaning, and the Bible verse [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is a family name for me, so there’s a chance I’ll end up using it at some point in the future

9+ letters is quite a challenge :joy::joy::joy:

[name_f][/name_f]

Your name is [name_m]Siegfried[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] (which btn tells me is Germanic mythology), meaning victorious peace[name_f][/name_f], with a spiritual connotation of grateful[name_f][/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

You didn’t mention if you wanted the Bible verse along with it, so I’m not including it, but if you want to know the corresponding verse, let me know!

Aww fun! [name_f][/name_f] Your kiddos have lovely names!

[name_f][/name_f]

Your name is [name_f]Oriana[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], meaning dawning sun[name_f][/name_f], with a spiritual connotation of enlightened for service[name_f][/name_f].

“Whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the [name_m]Lord[/name_m], whether he is a slave or free.” Ephesians 6:7

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

Really[name_f][/name_f] confused how the meaning, connotation, and verse correlate, but I do love [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] with your kiddos!

Your name is Eirena[name_f][/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] She is new to me but I believe is a variant of [name_f]Irene[/name_f], said eye-ree-nah from what I can tell. [name_f][/name_f] They listed Eirana, Eiranna, and Eirenna as variants. [name_f][/name_f] She means peace[name_f][/name_f], and her spiritual connotation is contentment[name_f][/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f] (She is in [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Spenser’s The [name_f]Faerie[/name_f] Queene!)

[name_f][/name_f]

You didn’t mention wanting the Bible verse, so I’m leaving it out, but if you want it, let me know and I can send it to you!

I FOUND PROVERBS 31:25!

[name_f][/name_f]

The name is [name_f]Twyla[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] (and variant spellings [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Twilla[/name_f], and Twylla), meaning doubly woven[name_f][/name_f], with a spiritual connotation of strong[name_f][/name_f].

[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] is linked with [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], but yes!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Sarai[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], meaning princess[name_f][/name_f], with a spiritual connotation of beloved[name_f][/name_f]. (A whole slew of variants, including [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and Sharaya?)

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]Your Bible verse[name_f][/name_f]

“All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold.” [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 45:13

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

And your T name:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Topaz[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], meaning gem[name_f][/name_f] (lol), with a spiritual connotation of fidelity[name_f][/name_f]. (The 5 letter T names were slim pickings unless it was something super popular like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] or [name_m]Tyson[/name_m] which don’t feel like you! [name_f][/name_f] Hopefully this is more interesting than those at least lol.)

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]Your Bible verse[name_f][/name_f]

“Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer… be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Revelation 2:10

Your name is [name_f]Chiara[/name_f][name_f][/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] Not sure if it’s frilly enough, but it feels so princessy to me.

[name_f][/name_f]

She means clear[name_f][/name_f], and her spiritual connotation is sealed[name_f][/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

You didn’t mention wanting a verse, so I’m leaving it off, but if you want to see, let me know and I’ll come back and add it!

[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]Your Bible verse[name_f][/name_f]

Thank you!! I love [name_f]Topaz[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- intrigued by that passage [name_f][/name_f]- I’m guessing it’s going on the fidelity association!

I think you’re right about the tie to fidelity—tbh I would’ve thought they’d use the verses talking about one of the gates of heaven being made out of Topaz… but apparently not :joy::joy:

[name_f][/name_f]

Tbh surprised Nameberry links it as a girl’s name—it’s one of the rare gem names that feels masculine to me? [name_f][/name_f] I guess it could go either way though.

[name_f]Oriana[/name_f] is lovely!! The verse does seem a bit random lol, bit it’s still lovely. If I were to choose a verse for [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], I would probably choose..

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f][name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] 58:8[name_f][/name_f]

Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] shall be your rear guard.

thank you for doing this! so cool.
[name_f][/name_f]my criteria are:

[name_f][/name_f]
    [name_f][/name_f]
  • 3+ syllables
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • doesn’t end in an “a” sound or “y/ie/ee” sound
  • [name_f][/name_f]
  • has nickname potential that is less than 3 syllables
  • [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

and a verse would be awesome as well!

Something pastoral :herb: - ie. Soft, hushed nature/vintage/poetic - ish. Bonus if it has a meaning that means Something a long the lines of “at peace”…would love the corsponding Bible verse if there is one!

Also love if it has cute nickname potential

I would be interested in learning the spiritual meaning associated with any of my favorite names! (to choose some more familiar ones as options, perhaps [name_m]Rowan[/name_m], [name_f]Amity[/name_f], or [name_m]Bellamy[/name_m] for girls, or [name_m]Forest[/name_m], [name_m]Zephyr[/name_m], or [name_m]Kylian[/name_m] for boys)

[name_f][/name_f]

no verse please

Ooh, I’m surprised too - it’s always leaned more fem to me, as I watched a share with a female Topaz in it as a kid, but it could work either way - I’ll add it as a masc name

Cornish names are slim pickings, but I did find two! [name_f][/name_f] I’m going with [name_m]Jago[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] here because it’s more interesting than [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] (though I am a big [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] fan!). [name_f][/name_f] They lumped it in with [name_m]Iago[/name_m], and identified it as Welsh (hey, better than [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], which they called Middle Eastern!), with a meaning of supplanter[name_f][/name_f] and a spiritual connotation of replacement[name_f][/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]Your Bible verse[name_f][/name_f]

“The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stone; the sycamores are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars.”

[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]

Found these with the Bible verses you mentioned:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Adalia[/name_f], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Reynard[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] 1:9

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Burton[/name_m], [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 23:1-2

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 23:1

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Rocco[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 23:2-3

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Sancho[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Nehemiah[/name_m] 9:6

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Slade[/name_m], Tani, [name_f]Virgilia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 23:4

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Warwick[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 23:3

[name_f][/name_f]

If I find any I missed, I’ll come back and add them! [name_f][/name_f] If you want to know anything else the book says about these names, let me know. [name_f][/name_f]
