I know lots of people right now are fans of just using the “nickname” as a full name, but I have a full name and go buy a nn and I have always loved the options that gives me so that’s my personal preference. I’m looking for a name that gets to Birdie and isn’t too much of a stretch. I’ve considered Bernadette. It’s a maybe, but I think there could be something better. Help!
okay these might be a bit of a stretch
[name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] (means Bird)
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Aubrie[/name_f]
I think it can be short for [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], Beatrice/Beatrix too
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f]
[name_f]Roberta[/name_f]
Bernice/Berenice
A few more ideas…
Briony/Bryony
[name_f]Bertha[/name_f]
[name_f]Barbara[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Myrna[/name_f]
Any bird name, like [name_f]Dove[/name_f], [name_m]Sparrow[/name_m], [name_m]Robin[/name_m], [name_f]Wren[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_m]Finch[/name_m], etc.
[name_f]Brigid[/name_f]
[name_f]Bertille[/name_f]
[name_f]Albertine[/name_f]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_f]Bertha[/name_f]
[name_f]Amber[/name_f] / [name_f]Ember[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] / [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (especially with an R middle name)
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f]
[name_f]Roberta[/name_f]
or alternatively, any bird name:
[name_f]Wren[/name_f]
[name_f]Dove[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Alondra[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Ainara[/name_f]
[name_f]Starling[/name_f]
[name_f]Kestrel[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] niece is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] - nn [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] [name_f]Lou[/name_f]. Love!!
[name_f]Bertha[/name_f]
[name_f]Kimberly[/name_f]
[name_f]Aberdeen[/name_f]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f]
[name_f]Amberly[/name_f]
[name_f]Berenice[/name_f]
[name_f]December[/name_f] or [name_f]October[/name_f] or any month ending in -ber
[name_f]Remember[/name_f]
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Braelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Briette[/name_f]
[name_f]Brinsley[/name_f]
Brigid/Bridget was my first idea too. [name_m]Or[/name_m] any bird name, like [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Wren[/name_f], [name_m]Robin[/name_m], [name_m]Sparrow[/name_m], [name_f]Starling[/name_f], [name_f]Raven[/name_f], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], Blackbird, etc.?
I can also see something like Briana/Gabriella/Briallen/Briseis/Bristol with a D middle. Like [name_f]Briallen[/name_f] [name_f]Delia[/name_f] “Birdie”?
I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f], and you could use that same logic for these:
[name_f]Aderyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Aviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Elaia[/name_f]
Behind the name also lists [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a traditional nn for [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] and [name_f]Bertha[/name_f].

[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Verbena[/name_f]
I think some are more obvious than others, I think anything with a B could work but I tried to mostly include names that at least had a B + an R/D… I especially think [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], [name_f]Bedelia[/name_f], [name_f]Albertine[/name_f], and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] are great options but I like all of them with the nickname [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]! Good luck!
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (that’s an established thing right??)
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]

[name_f]Mavis[/name_f] (means songbird–also super cute!!)
fwiw, I think [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] is a stunning name!
omg, I can’t believe I didn’t put [name_f]Aderyn[/name_f] as a suggestion–I love to see her on people’s lists!! good idea
