Give Me All your Name Advice!

Whew! I’ve finally narrowed my top girl names down to under 50 (btw, not pregnant or expecting; not even 14 years old yet). I want everything from y’all Berries: Criticism, combos, suggestions for new names! Talk me into names, out of names, whatever! Tell me about your preferred spellings for others, suggest nicknames, and help me eliminate too! TIA!
The first names:
Ariana- Ari, loved it since I was 12
Bellatrix- Bel, Bella, Trixie, Bex
Bronwyn- Bronnie, Wynnie, would Brynne work?
Brynne/Brinn- Most people seemed to like Brynne on a poll I did
Carolyn- Caro
Cecelia- Cia, Cece, Celia
Coralie- Cory, Coral, Cora
Ione- Nonie
Isadora- Izzy, Sady
Jada
Julianna, Julianne- Berries preferred Julianna by just a couple votes, need nn
Kateri- Kat, Katie, Teri
Lavinia- Liv, Livvy
Lucia- Lulu, many say loo-SEE-uh, I also like loo-chee-uh and LOO-sha
Raphaela- Rae
Waverly- Wave

Middle Names:
Sage, Tyler, Ruth, Isabel, Andra, Winter, Britt, Jade, Seraphine, Chanel, Zelie (prn ZAY-lee), Mabel, Consuelo, Zinnia

Names I like for both first and middle:
Bellarosa- On a poll, Bellatrix won over this by just a hair
Cassia- CASH-uh pronunciation, not three syllables. I liked Kassia too, like the saint
Bianka- nn Bia
Josephine
Isabeau- This might be best for the middle, because Isabelle.
Antonia- Need a good nn
Theodosia- would Zosia (ZOH-shuh) work as a nn?
Valerie

Recently off the list (just for inspo): Quenby, Magnolia, Tanith, Afton, Ardith, Beverly, Arlena/Arlana, Diavian, Marilyn, Yvette, Brylie

[name_f]Ariana[/name_f] - it’s a bit too tied to [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] [name_f]Grande[/name_f] for my liking, but it is fine for other people!
[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] - I like all of the nickname options, but people will probably notice the [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] connection. [name_m]Just[/name_m] be prepared for that.
[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] - it’s just lovely! I think I prefer the look of [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f], but that’s just me.
[name_f]Brynne[/name_f] / [name_u]Brinn[/name_u] - interesting, because I actually prefer [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]! I think it is a nice name! Sleek and stylish.
[name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] - a bit dated, but it sounds sweet! [name_u]Caro[/name_u] adds some spunk.
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], but all are nice.
[name_f]Ione[/name_f] - not sure where you live, but in the States you would probably have pronunciation errors
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] - very fancy, but I kind of like it! It sounds regal and elegant.
[name_f]Jada[/name_f] - pretty cool!
[name_f]Julianna[/name_f] / [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] - [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_u]Julie[/name_u], or [name_f]Annie[/name_f] would make a good nickname.
[name_f]Kateri[/name_f] - I greatly prefer [name_f]Katia[/name_f], but this is also cool
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - I love it! She absolutely belongs in a storybook! Very whimsical.
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] - Always liked this one! I also switch between loo-SEE-ah and loo-CHEE-ah. I’ve never heard LOO-sha before.
[name_f]Raphaela[/name_f] - never been a fan. (but I don’t usually like “clunky feminizations” of male names)
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u] - too modern for my tastes. sounds a bit made up.

[name_f]My[/name_f] top ten would be [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f], [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f], [name_f]Julianna[/name_f] (nn JJ, [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_u]Julie[/name_u], or Annie), [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] (these spellings). [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] are my faves on the middles list.

[name_f]Ariana[/name_f]- cute and sparky with a slight rugged sound, but pretty and stylish too

[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]- I do like the sounds, but very HP

[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f]- charming, lovely and gentle but with strength

Brynne/Brinn- I prefer [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] but it’'s a great sounding name

[name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]- classic and cute

[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]- bubbly, bright and cute

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]- sweet and sharp

[name_f]Ione[/name_f]- not loving [name_f]Nonie[/name_f] but [name_f]Ione[/name_f] is gorgeous - sleek and pretty. I like [name_f]Iona[/name_f] too

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]- sleek but bold, familiar but distinct

[name_f]Jada[/name_f] - cool and fresh

[name_f]Julianna[/name_f], [name_u]Julianne[/name_u]- I find it a bit fussy but it’s okay

[name_f]Kateri[/name_f]- fun and distinctive

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]- bright and whimsical

[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]- love it, especially Lu-chee-uh. [name_u]Wonderful[/name_u] name

[name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]- pretty and grand

[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]- literary and cool

I’d say you have two styles: modern, slightly unisex and sharp, and then elegant, romantic and strong.

I’d sort them:

More modern: [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], [name_f]Brynne[/name_f], [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Jada[/name_f], [name_u]Waverly[/name_u]

More romantic/distinctive: [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Ione[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Julianna[/name_f]

Ones that sort of fit into both categories or veer into both: [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Kateri[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Zelie[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]!

[name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] are lovely too.

[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Toni[/name_u], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f], [name_f]Nia[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], [name_f]Nona[/name_f], Toto, [name_u]Noa[/name_u]

[name_f]Zosia[/name_f] could work for [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] (also, [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Dodo[/name_f], [name_f]Dodie[/name_f], [name_f]Sia[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], Dessie)

A few combos:

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Jada[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Kateri[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_f]Zelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]

A few suggestions:

[name_f]Cherith[/name_f] (Cherry, Chessie)

[name_f]Ariana[/name_f] - I actually quite like it, despite its popularity, although it’s too frilly for my own list. I adore [name_u]Ari[/name_u], and would use it myself on its own!
[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] - not a fan, even without the HP association, but the association only makes it worse for me
[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] - strong, distinct, a little too frumpy for me but I like it for other people. not a fan of Bronnie but I like the other ideas!
Brynne/Brinn - don’t like either spelling at all tbh. I quite like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] for other people, and I’ve known a [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] as well (also a Brynne). of the two, [name_f]Brynne[/name_f] wins by a mile
[name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] - not my style. I find it dated and a bit boring, same with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. much prefer [name_u]Caro[/name_u] on its own! spunky and stylish, but recognizable!
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] - too frilly for me. I haven’t been able to consider it since I took zoology in high school because it reminds me too much of a caecilian worm
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - I prefer just [name_f]Cora[/name_f] but I don’t mind [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ione[/name_f] - I don’t like this or [name_f]Iona[/name_f] because I just hear “I own”
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] - cute! much prefer it over [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. I love the nn [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]!
[name_f]Jada[/name_f] - I prefer [name_u]Jade[/name_u], somehow it sounds more modern
Julianna/Julianne - I find [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] a little more interesting since I’ve never met one but I find both names to be a bit boring
[name_f]Kateri[/name_f] - love! spunky, interesting, unique, but all of those nicknames would ruin its spark for me
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - love the nicknames, [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] is nice
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] - my favorite nickname for this is [name_u]Lux[/name_u]! used to be high on my list but it’s too frilly for me now. still like it for other people! (and prefer it over [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], hot take!)
[name_f]Raphaela[/name_f] - a bit of a mouthful for me
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u] - I quite like this! interesting and slightly fantastical

From the middle names, I quite like [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_u]Jade[/name_u], [name_f]Zelie[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]!

[name_f]Bellarosa[/name_f] - too much for me but at least it doesn’t have the evil witch association
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f] - I really don’t like this pronunciation. the “cash” syllable almost cheapens the name. it loses all of its charm for me
[name_f]Bianka[/name_f] - not sure how I feel about the K but I have a soft spot for [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]! I like it a lot for others! really not a fan of Bea/Bee so I like seeing [name_f]Bia[/name_f] instead!
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - not for me. I find it frumpy and a bit boring
[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] - lovely! full of zest and spunk! I think it works either way
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] - not my style but another one I like for others. [name_f]Nia[/name_f] would probably be my pick
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] - too much for me again. I like [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] but I’ve only ever heard it pronounced ZAW-sha (like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] with a Z)
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f] - not for me but I know a sweet, lively little girl with the name who makes it seem less dated

Also like [name_f]Quenby[/name_f] and [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I’m 39 & my name obsession began at about 13. :joy:

Here are my thoughts on your lists:

[name_f]Ariana[/name_f]- Ari-my little boy kitty is named [name_u]Ari[/name_u], so I don’t love it for a girl. But I’m not super opposed to it either. [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] sounds pretty, but it has a lot of different ways to pronounce it, which is kind of a pain. It’s also a tad trendy in my opinion. I’d prefer [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] (said 'Are-ee-elle) nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u].

[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]- [name_f]Bel[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Trixie[/name_f], Bex-This is fun, and not a name I see on too many lists. Sometimes it feels too heavy, but sometimes it feels pixie-ish. It’s certainly unique but not complicated, which I like. I love the nn [name_f]Bella[/name_f] best, but also think [name_f]Bess[/name_f] and [name_f]Bette[/name_f] could work.

[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f]- Bronnie, [name_f]Wynnie[/name_f], would [name_f]Brynne[/name_f] work?-Sure, [name_f]Brynne[/name_f] works! I love love [name_f]Wynnie[/name_f] though the most. If we’re being really picky, I’d change this to [name_f]Branwen[/name_f]. Either way, it reminds me a bit too much of brownies (which are delicious, but I don’t like them in a name!), but it’s an interesting choice.

Brynne/Brinn- Most people seemed to like [name_f]Brynne[/name_f] on a poll I did-I prefer [name_f]Brynne[/name_f], but kind of like the simple [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] best. Maybe [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]? I don’t know. It’s not my cup of tea, but it’s perfectly nice.

[name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]- Caro-This is a name that I don’t think that I like, because it just feels dated. But I came across a toddler named this recently, and was elated! [name_m]Just[/name_m] because it was so unexpected. I don’t love the way [name_u]Caro[/name_u] sounds; prefer the full name. But maybe you like [name_f]Lynnie[/name_f] as a nn?

[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]- [name_f]Cia[/name_f], [name_f]Cece[/name_f], Celia-I kind of want it to be spelled [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], but really smart & lovely none the less. I like the nn [name_f]Celie[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Celia[/name_f], but like it better as a full name.

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]- [name_u]Cory[/name_u], [name_f]Coral[/name_f], Cora-Hm. I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f], but not [name_u]Cory[/name_u]. [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is neat, but I like it more in theory than saying it out loud. Prefer [name_f]Coraline[/name_f].

[name_f]Ione[/name_f]- Nonie-Nonie is darling. I don’t love the sound of [name_f]Ione[/name_f], but it’s really different.

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]- [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], Sady-It’s not my favorite [name_u]Isa[/name_u] name, but it’s not bad. I think it’s just kind of bulky sounding. [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is cute. I also like the nn [name_f]Idgie[/name_f].

Jada-Nothing unpleasant about it. I think it just sounds too modern for me.

[name_f]Julianna[/name_f], [name_u]Julianne[/name_u]- Berries preferred [name_f]Julianna[/name_f] by just a couple votes, need nn-Yeah, I like [name_f]Julianna[/name_f] more. Although I really like [name_f]Giuliana[/name_f], but it’s a bit fancy. What about the nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]?

[name_f]Kateri[/name_f]- [name_f]Kat[/name_f], [name_f]Katie[/name_f], Teri-I don’t love the way this one looks or sounds; not sure why. I love the idea of the nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u] though, if you’re into that.

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]- [name_f]Liv[/name_f], Livvy-I like the idea of the nn [name_f]Livy[/name_f] (just one ‘v’ though ) a lot, but [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] isn’t my favorite.

[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]- [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], many say loo-SEE-uh, I also like loo-chee-uh and LOO-sha-Really pretty & romantic, but not too frilly. I like Loo-see-uh pronunciation, but find the whole three pronunciation thing way too much of a headache. [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is sweet. Maybe you like other [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] options? So many good ones! [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], [name_f]Luciana[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_u]Louise[/name_u], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Luisa[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f], [name_u]Laurel[/name_u], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] or [name_f]Tallula[/name_f].

[name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]- Rae-That’s kind of neat. It’s not a name that I think about much, but it’s different and the nn [name_u]Rae[/name_u] feels obvious but creative at the same time.

[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]- Wave-I think that I’d be kind of excited to meet a person named [name_u]Wave[/name_u], but I don’t know if I can get into [name_u]Waverly[/name_u].
:
[name_f]Bellarosa[/name_f]- On a poll, [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] won over this by just a hair-Hm. This feels too smush for me, but not awful.

[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]- CASH-uh pronunciation, not three syllables. I liked [name_f]Kassia[/name_f] too, like the saint-I prefer Cass-ee-uh, but not my favorite either way.

[name_f]Bianka[/name_f]- nn Bia-That’s kind of different without being complicated. A name that I should like, but can’t get into. I think that [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] looks prettier though.

Josephine-I love love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. So smart and elegant and a little sassy. I don’t like any of the nns for it though, so I keep it off my list. Except maybe [name_f]Posy[/name_f] is kind of cute.

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]- This might be best for the middle, because Isabelle.-Yeah, could get mistaken for [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] a lot. Which I personally prefer. But if you’re looking for an unique nn, do you like Ibbi?

[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]- Need a good nn-Very pretty. I love the nns [name_f]Ani[/name_f] or [name_f]Ana[/name_f], but what about Nonie?!

[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]- would [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] (ZOH-shuh) work as a nn?-Zosia works. But I much prefer [name_f]Thea[/name_f].

Valerie-That’s cute. A bit dated, but so cheerful that I like it anyway.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] my rambling helps.

Wow, thanks everybody! I love all the suggestions. I really trust all your name tastes
Like you, @MichelleM , my name obsession started about last year when I turned 13. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents think I’m crazy, dragging name books around the house and spending all my time on forums. I really enjoy hearing all your input!

Anyone else have opinions?
